Discover a peaceful and serene oasis within the concrete jungles of Bangkok on a bike
Located across the Chao Phraya River and near the city of Bangkok is an area which is nowhere near the life of the city. Lush green forests, wooden walkways, quiet roads with little traffic, this is Bang Krachao, the oasis jungle of Bangkok. It is also known as Bangkok’s Green Lung due to its shape if seen from the top. It is an amazing destination which will surprise you because of its difference between Bangkok city despite it being so near to it. You would not feel like you are in Bangkok if you are in Bang Krachao, if not for the skylines of Bangkok, you might just feel like you are in the countryside of Thailand.
Today, no skyrise buildings or commercial factories are allowed in the district to preserve its nature and culture. This amazing place in Bangkok can be best reached by boats crossing the Chao Phraya River. Upon crossing the river and reaching Bang Krachao, you can already feel the difference between it and the city. As you go into Bang Krachao, you will discover a peaceful place with lush green vegetation, a maze of waterways, small Thai villages, beautiful temples, and tropical jungles. Moreover, there is very little traffic in the area. We will ride through local communities passing through small local villages, schools, temples and a floating market. Along the journey, you will be introduced to the various flowers and fruits that are growing along the trails. We will have a stop for refreshment by the river before we visit an interesting old temple built in the Ayutthaya period that is more than 250 years old and has a unique roof made of teak wood.
During this tour, we will ride around 20 kilometres in total. We will first ride a short busy section of the city before we cross the river to Bang Krachao. Upon reaching Bang Krachao, our ride will be mostly along quiet small roads, pathways and alleys where we will pass through temples, gardens, and the tropical jungles. There are no hills in this ride. However, some of the canal paths are quite narrow and elevated, so we advise caution on these sections. If you are terrified of heights or unstable while riding a bike you might want to reconsider before booking this tour. Otherwise, it will be a nice and easy ride.
