Drive along the scenic route next to the Mekong river to the north and south of the ancient city of Luang Prabang and visit the Pak Ou cave and Kuang Si waterfall, respectively. In the early hours of the morning, you will meet with your guide to commence with your thrilling adventure exploring the natural wonders of Luang Prabang. Head to the Pak Ou village that is 40 minutes away from the main city of Luang Prabang. The Pak Ou village is a secluded village that is located away from the hectic city of Luang Prabang. Be welcomed with warm smiles as you visit the Pak Ou village and discover the culture and customs. Explore the beautiful crafts that are handcrafted by the villagers before heading to the magnificent Mekong river.
Cross the grand Mekong river on a small boat that is surrounded by magnificent limestone cliffs to the entrance of the Pak Ou caves that is amongst the cliffs. Enter the mysterious lower cave called Tham Ting to catch the sight of Buddha statues and relics that are scattered all along the walls of the cave. The Pak Ou caves is highly revered by the Buddhist and the caves are filled with more than 4000 Buddha statues that are in different shapes and poses. Bask in the beautiful sight of the Mekong river from the caves. Ascend the stairs to enter the upper cave called Tham Theung and discover thousands of hidden statues within the walls of the caves. There is a widespread belief amongst locals that statues were placed in the caves from well over centuries ago.
After a thrilling expedition in the Pak Ou caves, you will cross the Mekong River again to the other side. Then, you will take a drive for 1.5 hours to the well-known Kuang Si waterfall. The Kuang Si waterfall towers to about 50 meters tall and it is also a three-tiered waterfall that flows to the stunning cerulean pool below. Dip your toes into the tempting cool pool that will surely soothe every fibre of your body. Explore the gorgeous jungle that surrounds the beautiful Kuang Si waterfall that flourishes within the region and remains beautiful all year-around. Then, you will head to the “Whiskey Village”, called the Ban Xang Hai that is known to produce delectable rice whiskey, with a recipe that has been around for generations. Taste the interesting rice whiskey that will surely stimulate your taste buds.
Explore the Asiatic Bear Sanctuary that is located a stone’s throw away from the Kuang Si waterfall. The Asiatic Bear Sanctuary is the home of the Asiatic bears that roam within the gated walls of the sanctuary, as the bear will be able to live out their lives freely away from harm. The Asiatic Bear Sanctuary protects and rehabilitates these Asiatic bears that are rescued by the Lao authorities. After an exhausting full day adventure, you will head back to Luang Prabang and give a final farewell to the adorable bears at the sanctuary.
