Venture to the marvellous ancient city of Luang Prabang, which is also known as the “city of the Golden Buddha Phra Bang”, that is located at the northern part of Laos. The ancient city of Luang Prabang was given the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the city is filled with deeply historical grand palaces that have been around for centuries and more than 33 shining Wats (‘temples’) that are placed in every corner of the city. Visit the local Elephant Village Camp that is the home for protected and rehabilitated elephants that prosper from responsible tourism when it was established in 2001.
Step foot into the Elephant Village Camp that is located a stone’s throw away from the Luang Prabang city, where you will be graciously welcomed by your guide and then you will be briefed on the elephants in the camp. You will also be provided with a reusable aluminium water bottle that is environment-friendly. Then, you will interact with the docile giants during the feeding session where you will give the elephants some tasty treats to consume heartily. Explore the beautiful camp where you will encounter the elephant hospital, which provides treatment to the sick and injured elephants. Visit the elephant museum and photo gallery, where you will learn about the elephants and behold the stunning photos of the elephants in the camp. Learn about a more eco-friendly way of papermaking which is made from elephant dung from the experts in the area.
Explore the stunning nature that surrounds the camp from the perspective of the elephant by going on a bareback ride along the 1 kilometer long river. After the ride along the river, you will stumble upon two cute baby elephants that reside in the luscious jungle. You will have an exhilarating trek along a 4 kilometers trail where you will be surrounded by beautiful nature that seems to stretch far and wide. Visit the local Khmu village of Ban Huay Fai where you will have the opportunity to learn about the culture and customs of the local Khmu people. Gain some knowledge on the different ethnic groups that live in the area and the unique home styles of the people.
After an exhausting trek, you will be provided with a delicious lunch that will surely stimulate your taste bud that will be served in a picnic-style. Then, you will go on another trek along a beautiful trekking trail called the “Trail of Falls” that sit along a small stream that will show the way to the natural Tad Sae waterfall. Take the chance to splash around and have fun in the Tad Sae waterfall that exudes serenity and beauty. After a day filled with smiles and peals of laughter, you will head back to the Elephant Village camp, where you will depart with memories that will forever be in your hearts.
