Tour Description:

Discover the ancient city of Luang Prabang, that is located in the northern part of Laos which is surrounded by beautiful mountains that go up to more than 600 meters high, near the meeting point of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. The ancient capital had been given the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, due to the former royal palaces and the presence of more than 30 gilded Wats (‘temples’) that are scattered all around the city.

Your journey begins with a trip to the local Elephant Village Camp that is situated about 15 kilometers away from Luang Prabang, where you will have the opportunity to experience meeting these docile mammals in their humble abode. The Elephant Village Camp open as an elephant sanctuary in 2001 to provide rehabilitation and shelter to the elephants in need of responsible tourism.

Upon arrival to the elephant camp, you will interact with the friendly guides and be briefed regarding the elephants in the camp. As a way to help the environment, you will be provided with an aluminium water bottles that will be filled with water for the journey and you can take it back with you once the tour ends. Approach the friendly giants with their favourite treats in your hand and watch as they wrap the treats around their trunks and heartily consume it.

Then, you will have a chance to explore the elephant camp where you will catch the sight of an elephant hospital, where the elephants are treated for their maladies and the elephant museum and photo gallery, where you will gain some insight on the history of elephants in Laos and admire the beautiful pictures of the docile creature. Gain some knowledge on the making papers using elephant dung in the elephant camp. Experience how it feels like to view nature from the point of view of an elephant by going on a ride on top of the elephant along the 1 kilometers long river and exploring the spectacular elephant camp that is filled with luscious green vegetations that prosper well and an abundance of wildlife that roam around the area.

Upon arrival to the end of the river, you will encounter two cute young elephants in their natural habitat in the jungle, where you will have a chance to interact with these cute animals. Traverse through to the Tad Sae Waterfall on the traditional Lao longboat, where you will bask in the beauty of nature and hear the sounds of the water in constant motion. Take a dip into the cool waters where you will feel refreshed and rejuvenated from an exhausting journey around the elephant camp.

Indulge in the delectable cuisine which will be provided at the local Elephant Camp restaurant that is served buffet-style with coffee or tea and drinking water. There will be food options for those who are vegetarians. After a long and exhausting adventure, you will depart from the Elephant Village Camp with only smiles and memories that will last for the rest of your life.
