Day 1 - Naaluang Trek / Multi-ethnic Hike
Take a thrilling journey across Nong Khiaw, which has been described as heaven on Earth as the town is filled with an abundance of picturesque landscapes. The town is safely nestled in between the towering limestone karst that is covered with trees and it sits along the Nam Ou river. Within its path sits the Tham Pha Thok, which served as a shelter to evade the bombs dropped during the Second Indochina War. After a short ride to the starting point of the trek, you will trudge along the narrow paths, heading pass rice paddy fields that stretch across the land and through olden forests. Bask in the stunning natures that are filled with a wide array of flora and the sights of the mountain silhouettes that sits in a distance from the trail. Take plenty of pictures of the vibrant rice fields that vary in colour depending on the season and also the gardens that are dotted with beautiful flowers. Take delight in a delicious lunch within the serene jungle atmosphere.
Your trekking journey ends at a serene Lao-style village, where you will discover the simple lifestyles of the villagers that still hold traditional values. Gaze at the traditional houses that are dotted along the trails and also the farmland, where the villagers carry out their daily tasks. Learn about the culture and customs of the villagers, which includes their weaving tradition in a Lao lowland style. Explore the beautiful village and learn about the differences in lifestyles between the ethnic groups that live harmoniously with one another. Visit the Clay School that was constructed completely out of adobe, mud and clay for the children to congregate and learn when it was established in 2011. After a tiring day, you will head to the homestay in the remote village for the night and delight yourself in a delicious dinner that will replenish your energy.
Day 2 - Jungle Trek/ Cruise to the Village Homestay
Begin your day by consuming some delectable flavours to fill your tummy for the journey to come. Leave the remote village behind to start your adventure along jungle trails. Revel in the stunning nature that is filled with dense jungles that provide shade against the Sun. Take the trail that will lead you through bamboo forests and then advance to a mountain pass that reaches to the Nam Ou river. Reach a stop at the Nam Ou river, which is one of the crucial rivers of Laos as it is used for large-draft boat transportation. A stone’s throw away from the meeting point of the Mekong rivers and Nam Ou rivers is the renowned Pak Ou caves, which is famous for housing more than 4000 kinds of Buddha statues. You will require at least 4-5 hours to trek through the medium-level trails.
Aboard a private boat to will take you upon a ride upriver to the stunning Thai Lu village. The Thai Lu village is known for producing stunning fabrics, with the knowledge of the weaving process that has been passed down for generations. The villagers will utilize cotton that was grown in the neighbouring fields to produce the fabrics. Some of the fabrics still carry the original designs, even though the patterns have changed with the time. Explore the village with the spectacular sceneries that will leave you in awe. After a long day of adventure, you will retire at a comfortable homestay that is amid stunning landscapes and in a calming ambience.
Day 3 - River Explorer / Caves / Waterfalls
Leave behind the serene Thai Lu village and aboard a traditional longtail boat that will take you to downward along a river. Revel in the spectacular nature as you travel along the river before making a stop at the popular Ban Muang Ngoi. Immerse yourself in the laid-back ambience of the village that is located along the river as you explore the charming village. The Ban Muang Ngoi is the home of the Lao Loum people and it was the heavily bombed site during the Laotian Civil War. Discover the agrarian lifestyle of the local villagers as you observe and interact with the friendly villagers. At your own leisure, hit the trails and take a short hike to the local cave, called the Tham Pha Noi. Hop aboard a boat that will take you to the Ban Sop Khong village. Observe the villagers hard at work as you take a hike to the stunning waterfall. Hear the sounds of moving water as you approach the waterfall, where you can relax and take a refreshing swim across the cool pool. Have some delicious lunch before heading back to the river, where you will leave the serene village behind en route to Nong Khiaw.
