Travel through the ancient city of Luang Prabang by going on a biking, trekking and kayaking expedition!
Day 1 - Bicycle and Fair Trekking
Start your journey by visiting the local bike shop to get properly-fitted on one of the quality bicycles before heading out of town. Venture to the first stop of your adventure, which would be to the spectacular Wat Phon Phao, that is located upstream from the Nam Khan river. Explore the stunning temple to discover male bonzes donning yellow robes and the women wearing a form of white kimono. The temple is notable for its unique golden stupa and it is the site for a forest meditation retreat. You will advance further to visit the Ban Phanom, which is a weaving-village that is preferred by the King for its silk fabrics. A large portion of the village’s production of fabric utilizes a technique that uses cotton and silk, with the knowledge that has been passed down from generations. Take the trails again and head to the resting place of Henri Mouhot, who was a French explorer that highlighted the fall of Angkor Wat to the Western Civilizations.
Make a final steep climb forward to the top, before making a descent to the Nam Khan River valley that is amid spectacular mountains, waterfalls and river that is within the valley. Head back to the camp to that a short break along the banks of a river. Your journey continues on a boat ride, through the flowing river to the Tad Sae waterfall. Hear the sounds of the thunderous waters flowing through to the base of the waterfall. The flow of the water may vary depending on the season. Take a refreshing swim across the cold pool and explore the beautiful surrounding of the Tad Sae waterfall. Trudge along a short trail that will take you to the “Fair Trek” Community Project site, which aims to empower the local communities through tourism.
Day 2 - Trekking and Kayaking
After a delectable breakfast, you will begin your hike through the mountains, amid beautiful nature to the riverbank. Along the way, you will pass by the serene Xieng Lom village and observe the friendly villagers as they carry out their daily tasks before arriving at the Nam Khan river. Before starting your kayaking expedition, you will be going through some safety and equipment checks. Traverse along the Nam Khan river and cross paths with stunning jungle, remote villages and the vast expanse of agricultural lands. You will paddle downriver through the Nam Khan river before concluding your adventure by heading back to Luang Prabang.
