Day 1 - Mountain Biking / Trekking / Elephant Boat / Waterfall / Homestay
Make your way to the local bike shop at Luang Prabang, where you will be properly fitted onto one of the quality mountain bicycles. Leave the bustling city behind through the verdant jungles to the Wat Phon Phao that is atop a mountain, which overlooks the beautiful city of Luang Prabang. Admire the striking architecture of the temple that has a towering golden stupa. The Wat Phon Phao temple is mainly used as a forest retreat meditation site for Buddhist and it is one of rare few temples that have nuns. Travel further through a short trail that will take you to the Ban Phanom, which is a quaint little weaving village. At one point in time, the King ordered an abundance of textiles of cotton and silk textiles from the village. Head along the roads again, which will take you to the burial site of Henri Mouhot, who was a French explorer during the 19th century and notified the West on the ruins of Laos.
Venture further through the final stretch of trail that will take you to the Nam Khan valley amid beautiful mountains, stunning waterfalls and a river that flows nonchalantly. Along the way, you will have a break at an adventure camp that is a stone’s throw away from the shores of the river. Hop aboard on a boat along the river that will take you to the stunning Tad Sae waterfall. The Tad Sae waterfall is a natural beauty that is best experienced during the wet season when the water is flowing in abundance. Take a dip in the alluring pool that is crystal clear and relaxes within the serene atmosphere of the surroundings. Have an enjoyable time by riding along the friendly giants, the Asian elephants as you explore the beautiful jungle surroundings. Replenish your energy with a delectable Lao lunch amid the tranquil falls before commencing your trek to the “Fair Trek” Project area. The “Fair Trek” Project area aims to empower local villages through tourism to establish an authentic travel experience. You will reside at the homestay that is along the base of a large mountain range that will give you a chance to learn about the culture and traditions of the Khmu people, in the midst of the stunning sceneries.
Day 2 - Trekking / Kayaking Along the Nam Khan River
After indulging in some hearty breakfast, you will say your final goodbyes to the friendly Khmu people before heading out to your hike along the mountain trails. Travel along the paths that is within the mountains that will take you to the riverbank. Trek past the Xieng Lom village is located a stone’s throw away from the river and be met with warm smiles from the villagers that reside at the village. Before starting your kayaking trip, you will first be properly briefed on the safety and equipment. Head down to the Nam Khan river to begin your kayaking trip, where you will be able to pass through lush jungles, elephant camps and serene villages that are dotted along the river. Behold the stunning sights of the vast expanse of rice paddy fields as you paddle on your kayak. You will encounter some rapids along the way, which adds some excitement to your trip. Your journey ends with a ride to Luang Prabang to wrap up the outdoor escapade.
