There are at least more than a hundred vendors that are selling a wide array of unique goods at their stall. Take a whiff of the herbs and spices that pervades through the air as you maneuver around the packed market that seems like a maze while being lead by a guide. Catch the sights of stacks of sticky rice, plenty of lime and chillies that are piled up atop each other. Visit Laos’ famed silk weaving industry called the Ock Pop Tock that is involved in employing professional weavers from around Laos to design, make and sell beautiful silk textiles. You will gain some knowledge on the practice of silk weaving from scratch to the end result.
Discover the main ethnic groups that are present in Laos by visiting the local villages of the Khmu, Hmong and Lao Loum, which make up a large part of the Laos population. The Khmu people tend to inhabit a huge part of the northern and central part of Laos where they tend to participate in hunting and iron-smithing. The Khmu village is located amongst the valleys that are of average altitude which are perfect for a population of people and for agriculture. Step foot into the Lao Luom village that formed the majority of the Lao population and they are involved in agriculture to cultivate rice that will prosper on the fertile land and they tend to lead the nomadic lifestyle once the fertile soil has become scarce.
Traverse to the beautiful Kuang Si Falls that is located at the south of Luang Prabang, where you will be able to cool off and feel refreshed after a tiring day of exploring the ethnic villages. Hear the sounds of the water nonchalantly in motion as you approach the waterfall via a trail near the waterfall. Explore the luscious green forest that is near the waterfall and revels in the beautiful flora and fauna that thrive in the area. Meet the friendly Hmong people at the Hmong village of Ban Na Oun where you will gain some insight on the traditional Lao Handicrafts and the practice of making them from the local experts. Your final stop would be to the small religious site called the Wat Phousi that is located upon a hill that is 100 meters above the town of Luang Prabang where you will gaze at the spectacular view of the town and the Nam Khan river and Mekong river.
