Explore the beauty and marvel of Balinese countryside as you make your way on a jeep and cycle your way around the lesser known side of Sibetan Village.
Sibetan Village has many interesting facts that you may not have previously expected. It used to be the capital of Bali during the reign of I Gusti Ngurah Mantu and is currently Indonesia’s largest producer of Salak Bali. The plantation itself is staggering, comprising 80% of the total output of Bali’s Salak Bali. As you tour around the village, you will also get to see the many monuments built to appreciate the reign of the wise king, whose leadership allowed Bali to prosper and develop. It is a definite must visit spot for you who would like to learn more about the culture and agricultural practices of Bali. So if that sounds like you, read on!
Your hotel pickup will bring you straight to the foot of Sibetan Village hill where your jeep will be waiting to take you on your journey. With the briefing done, the exploration will be underway. Your first stop will be the Salak plantation that is unique to the Balinese region. Do not mistake this fruit with your normal tropical salak that you can find in other Indonesian regions – the local Salak Bali is much juicier and much more satisfying due to the unique breed of the plant. This village visit will also allow you to talk and strike up friendly conversations with local farmers as you learn more about the botanical know-how and the cultivation techniques used by local farmers to treat their land. Or, if you prefer a more relaxing morning, you can choose to simply unwind by the jeep and enjoy some delicious Salak treat on the house. Next will be the local brewery where you will be able to learn more about the wine processing technique of locals which has been passed down for generations.
With the clock hovering around high noon, you will finally get to go for a coffee/tea break at a local house. There will also be traditional snacks prepared for you so be sure to grab what local treats they have. Then, you will continue your journey up the hill to a scenic sightseeing spot atop the hill. Here, you will be able to enjoy the breathtaking view of Mount Agung and the eastern Bali coast in the far horizon. Then, you will continue your way to your second stop where you will be able to gaze upon the shimmering eastern Bali shore and the sight of waves breaking on the sandy beach. As the clock strikes 1:30 P.M., you will head to your lunch destination to refresh before the next menu in your itinerary.
With lunch finished, you will continue your day with an exciting cycling adventure. Gear up and make your way around the popular and lesser-known spots around the Sibetan hill while you cycle your way straight to the hotspots of the region. If you still feel like having another bite of the juicy Salak Bali, this is the perfect chance to satisfy your craving. You will be visiting Bali’s largest Salak plantation again and get the chance to enjoy another round of the local tropical fruits to your heart’s content. Then, you will cycle around the lesser travel route into the heart of Sibetan Village where you will get to meet the locals and learn more about the historical significance of the region itself. Afterwards, you will continue to the rice field and white water river of the region. Depending on the season, you might be able to chat with local farmers on the bountiful year’s harvest. Even if you do not get the chance, you will still be able to stop by a local hut for your coconut drink. Finally, you will persevere to the finish line and be transported back to your hotel where you can rest for the day after a whole afternoon’s toil and sweat.
