Sit back and relax in a cable car ride that brings you along a scenic ride that overlooks the bustling Singapore city with its meticulous urban planning. Visit the Merlion sculpture at Sentosa Island, the largest one in Singapore and a majestic sight to behold. The Merlion is the top of a lion merged with the body of a fish and represents Singapore’s history. Known as Temasek in the past, Singapore was a port with fishing villages, hence the fish part of the Merlion. The lion part of it comes from the name Singapura (Lion City) in Sanskrit, which was later modified into the name we now know the island as Singapore.
Make your way to a 4D screening of the movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island where The Rock’s character along with some others go on a sci-fi adventure that is comedic at times. You will join them by being immersed into their world via 4D technology which recreates the sensations one would feel on-screen, off-screen. When water splashes in your direction on-screen, you will feel its droplets hitting your skin. Feel the wind rustle your hair as it whistles in your ears. You should feel adrenaline rushing through your system as you join the actors on-screen on their dangerously exciting adventure!
Cool down in the rainbow exhibit of the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom where butterflies and other insects like beetles roam around in a mesh enclosure. The exhibit is designed to mimic a tropical rainforest where these insects would usually be found in the wild. Observe how these insects behave and learn from the educational notices that litter the exhibit. In display cases are specimens of various insect species for you to see up-close and notice the minor differences between each genus.
See fish from the Bay of Bengal, the Straits of Melaka and the waters of the Andaman sea and more at S.E.A. Aquarium, the second largest aquarium in the world where over 100,000 marine animals of 800 different species reside in 49 differently-themed habitats, all underwater. Wave at leopard sharks and manta rays as they swim overhead in the walk-through Open Ocean habitat which makes you feel as though you are walking along the ocean floor amongst diverse marine life.
