Visit the iconic Merlion sculpture and the award-winning Gardens by the Bay conservatories Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, and end your night with a drink at the beautiful Smoke and Mirrors rooftop bar
Start off your dusky tour with a visit to the majestic Merlion sculpture at Merlion Park. It stands at a height of 8.6 metres and weighs a whopping 70 tonnes, spewing a fountain of water out of its mouth. The Merlion overlooks the beautiful Marina Bay and is definitely a sight to see. With the head of a lion and the body of a fish, the statue carries with it a great significance and Singapore’s history. Both Singapore’s history as a fishing village and its original name Singapura (Lion City) is represented by the Merlion.
One of Gardens by the Bay’s many wonderful attractions is the Cloud Forest where a 35-metre tall artificial mountain stands. Travel up its insides and get amazing views of the Cloud Forest on the way up when you peek out the “windows”. The mountain also has the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and the entirety of the conservatory is filled with a cold mist because of it, making it a very tranquil experience. Take your time on the walkway that hangs along the tops of the conservatory, allowing you to get an aerial view of Cloud Forest’s lush vegetation.
On your way to Smoke and Mirrors’ rooftop bar, drive by the scenic Raffles hotel and stop by for some pictures if time is on your side. Smoke and Mirrors’ modern design will be sure to have you feeling luxurious the minute you stroll in. Nurse a drink or several as you explore the sleek architecture of the bar and gaze at the panoramic scenery of the Padang and Marina Bay, completely visible from the bar. A ride will be provided to send you back safely to your hotel, but you mustn’t leave until after you’ve tried “The Singapore Sling”, Singapore’s own unique concoction!
