Travel to the lovely Berembun waterfall in a 4WD, experience the Flying Fox down the incline of Jeram Besu river, and challenge yourself to abseil down a wall 3 stories high!
Take a 45-minute journey through the ups and downs of Benom range in a stoic 4WD vehicle that is made to handle rough terrain. You are on your way to see one of Pahang’s best natural treasures, Berembun waterfall! This waterfall is famed for its beauty, and despite being one that is hard-to-reach, tourists are willing to make the travel from various distances just to witness it with their very own eyes. The efforts of these individuals are definitely a testament to how worthwhile a visit to the waterfall is.
Berembun waterfall has a relatively high altitude, and the forests that lead up to it have not yet been destroyed by development projects. Because of how deep it is into the Benom range, the verdure around the waterfall area is especially vibrant and abundant, with tall trees that keep visitors away from the harsh rays of the sun. A cool wind will signal your arrival at the waterfall as water gushes over edges of gigantic boulders.
Cascading down from a series of 7 or so cascades, Berembun waterfall’s waters are strong and cold. At the base of the waterfall, there is a large and deep natural pool. The waters invite you in for an invigorating swim. However, if you wish to swim in it, you must wear a life jacket. Have a picnic amongst the pleasant surroundings, with the rush of water in the background serving as white noise and the beautiful green trees providing the right amount of shade.
A more adrenaline-pumping activity is the Flying Fox. It will have you screaming in excitement as you zoom down the incline of Jeram Besu river. It consists of a pulley suspended on a cable, which is mounted on an incline. Users are strapped into a harness that will enable them to be carried along. The Flying Fox activity is derived from the historic use of zip-lines for transporting goods or users from the top to the bottom of an incline. It is now a popular vacation activity usually found at outdoor adventure camps or resorts that guarantees users a fun time in the air.
Flying Fox is among the easiest activities to do because the hardest part here would be to climb up onto a stage attached to a tall tree by the riverside. At the top, your equipment is checked thoroughly to ensure that your journey will be as safe as possible. Once you’re ready to go, all you’ll have to do is get into the proper position, lift your legs off the ground and let gravity do its work! Fly through the air as gravity pulls you down the length of the incline. Besides the Flying Fox, there is also an abseiling activity for you to do.
Abseiling is a particular technique used for descending steep, vertical cliff faces using harnesses, ropes, and other safety equipment like thick gloves. Its name comes from the German word abseilen which means “to rope down”. Before trying it out yourself, you will of course first be briefed on the technique, its equipment, and the safety procedures. A live demonstration should also be shown by experienced abseiler. When it’s your turn, climb up the ladder of the vertical wall, and begin your descent down the 3 stories-tall wall. It will pose a bit of a challenge as it is not a common activity, but it’s definitely worth a try!
