Durian lovers unite! This one-of-a-kind tour will have you in a downward spiral into durian madness as you spend the night at a durian farm.
Day 1: Penang / Bao Sheng Durian Farm
To those who are new to durian, know that it takes much courage to attempt something that has been described as “dirty gym socks” or even “rotten mushy onions” in terms of smell and taste. Before you get discouraged, know that durian is an acquired taste and some of those who were revolted by its taste and smell soon became durian lovers, hell-bent on discovering or sampling the next best durian. This leisurely tour begins as soon as you are picked up from your hotel lobby. We will the proceed to Bao Sheng Durian Farm, situated on the other side of the island (a journey that would take approximately an hour). Upon arrival, we will waste no time and dive straight into our first session of durian tasting!
After we have tasted all there is to sample, we will proceed for a tour around the durian farm; we will learn about the varying species—the shape, colour and size of the fruit—as well as learn more about its origins. Ask as much as you can so that you can write about your durian adventures! Then, it's dinner and an overnight stay at the farm as we call it a day.
Day 2: Bao Sheng Durian Farm / Penang
After the eventful day—not to mention bravely attempting the intimidating fruit for the uninitiated—it is time to return to your hotel. The experience will surely be something you’d never forget; having laid eyes on hungry folks tucking into durian after durian, grunting with the effort of opening the thorny husks and savouring its pulp with a contented sigh. The odour and taste will surely stick with you—quite literally—for some time!
