Challenge yourself during your relaxing beach vacation by climbing your way up to the sea cliffs located around Langkawi and plunge into the deep Andaman Sea for an exhilarating deep water soloing experience!
Langkawi is slowly gaining popularity for an array of adventure sports, so it is no surprise that the natural landscape of Langkawi has become a spot where deep water soloists have gathered to scale and discover the distinctive limestone karsts and warm waters of the region.
Highly recommended for the adrenaline junkie, deep water soloing is the form of solo rock climbing where you will be required to climb up sea cliffs independently and jump into the deep ocean blue. Deepwater soloing, also known as “psicobloc”, is an activity that is gaining acceptance among seasoned and alternative climbers, as there are no climbing routes, ropes or bolts guiding you where to go. Imagine scaling up the walls, but without the ropes and harnesses to support you and only the ocean is there to catch your fall! All you need are some skills, strength, grit and faith in yourself to plunge into the waters below. Now isn’t that thrilling?
If you want to take your rock climbing and bouldering experience further away from the confined walls of an indoor climbing gym to the great outdoors where the sun is shining and the sea is welcoming to catch you, then this one’s for you! Regardless of your climbing grades and experiences, think about giving deep water soloing a shot as routes are available for easy, intermediate and hardcore climbers.
We start our tour at 10:00 am where you hop onto a sailboat and be taken to climbing spots around Langkawi such as Dua Island, Gubang Darat Island and Jong Island, just to name a few. Get a grip on the sharp limestones to gain a sense of balance and make your way to the top of the sea cliff before taking a plunge into the blue waters of the Andaman Sea. Remember to smile for the action camera as you bravely scale up the cliffs! If you feel thirsty, fret not, as there will be a free flow of non-alcoholic drinks to quench your thirst during this activity.
