Experience adventure on a jet ski with a partner as a tour guide whisks you away to eight different islands, a few of which are Singa Besar Island, Dayang Bunting Island and Beras Basah Island for exploring, swimming and eagle-watching!
On this jet ski tour, your tour guide will bring you along on exploratory visits to four islands off the coast of Pulau Langkawi. The four islands are Intan Island (Diamond Island), Dayang Bunting Island (Pregnant Maiden Island), Singa Besar Island (Big Lion Island) and Beras Basah Island (Wet Rice Island). Start off your adventure with a rev of your jet ski engine and head towards Intan Island, where you can go swimming, snorkelling or just do some sightseeing.
What you’ll find on Intan Island are pristine sandy beaches and translucent waters that lure tourists in with the promise of a good swim. Massive ancient trees cluster around on the central part of the island as coconut palms grow along the beaches. The island is uninhabited and therefore undisturbed by development, making it a great natural environment for exploration. Both its lands and waters offer pleasant little surprises to discover should one decide to go and venture around or have a swim.
Next on the list for you to explore is Dayang Bunting Island where an array of activities is available for your enjoyment. The second largest island within the archipelago, it offers visitors the opportunity to swim in its beautiful lake that is known as Lake Guillermard. It is said that its waters can bestow upon barren women the gift of fertility, and that should you look at the island from a certain angle, it would appear that the outline of its hills and rocky outcrops creates the image of a pregnant woman lying down. There is also a legend behind the name of the island, and it tells the story of a princess named Mambang Sari who married a man named Mat Teja, whose son she then bore. Unfortunately, their son did not live for long, and after his passing, his body was floated down the lake by the couple.
On Dayang Bunting Island, you can also do some sightseeing, as the island is famous for its mangrove swamps, dense rainforests and abundance of wildlife. Over 90 species of birds can be found on this island, some of which are the hornbill, kingfisher, drongo, and woodpecker. Beyond sightseeing on land, you can also sightsee on the water as you ride your jet ski past an area full of small islands known as “The Fjords”, where cliffs tower overhead on either side of you. After you’re done ooh-ing and aah-ing at the gorgeous view, ride on past the area towards your next destination, Singa Besar Island.
Singa Besar Island offers you the opportunity to watch a live eagle-feeding session if you come at the right time. Watch as a convocation of white-bellied fish eagles and kite eagles execute perfect plummets towards the sea to snap up the chicken meat thrown onto the surface of the water by their feeders. Besides eagles, the island’s wildlife sanctuary is also the habitat of macaques, mousedeer, hornbills and peacocks. Its lush flora provides these animals with their lovely little home, and are worth taking a look at.
The final island you will jet ski to is Beras Basah Island, where you will go snorkelling in its clear blue waters. Just a distance from the soft powdery sand of its shore, snorkel around in the water and see a beautiful reef filled with different varieties of coral, ranging in colour and size. Be entertained by the fish flitting in and out of sight as they play around in the water, with some travelling in large schools. You can also lounge on the beach and be rewarded with scenery so beautiful that it’s been likened to something straight out of the movies by many visitors.
