Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu / Nabalu Market / Kinabalu Park
If you are an avid mountaineer or just want to challenge yourself, then get ready for an adventure as you trek to the summit of one of the highest mountains in South East Asia: Mount Kinabalu. Enjoy scenic views of the wide paddy fields and quaint local villages as you pass them by on your 2-hour road trip to Kinabalu Park. Before you reach your accommodation for the night, you’ll be stopping at Nabalu Market.
The market is located in the small town of Nabalu and is also a popular tourist destination due to it being close to the famous Kinabalu Park. Get a taste of the local delicacies from some of the stalls set up around the town or take a look at all the souvenirs stalls that are littered around. Before embarking on your climb on Mount Kinabalu, get a wide angle view of the said mountain from the town’s 15-meter watchtower. The Watchtower is one of the best locations where you can get a full view of the infamous mountain. Take loads of pictures then check-in to your accommodation and have a delicious dinner before retiring for the night.
Day 2 - Park HQ / Timp. Gate. Ascend Mount Kinabalu / Laban Rata
Enjoy a filling a breakfast to gather as much energy as you can for your trek up to Mount Kinabalu. After filling your stomachs make your way to the Park HQ to register for the climb and collect your ID tags which you need to wear at all times. Then meet your mountain guide before moving on to Timpohon Gate where your summit climb really begins! Your challenge begins with a 4 to 5-hour hike to the Laban Rata huts which is approximately 3272 metres above sea level.
During your trek, breathe in the cool, crisp air that’s thanks to being so high above sea level, you might even need to bring along warmer clothes due to the cold weather. Gaze at Kinabalu Park’s diverse flora and fauna with over 5000 different vascular plant species. The park is a breeding ground for many rare flowers such as the Rothschild slipper orchid which is one of the rarest orchids in the world. You might even get to catch a glimpse of Kinabalu’s interesting wildlife as it has around 90 different lowland mammal species living in the lush forest. You should reach Laban Rata around late afternoon where you’ll check in to your accommodation. Once night falls you’ll get to enjoy a delicious buffet dinner to fill your stomachs before you return to your dormitory style beds.
Day 3 - Low's Peak / Descend Mount Kinabalu / Kota Kinabalu
Get up bright and early for supper before venturing back out to go on the last leg of your trek to the summit of Mount Kinabalu. Put your physical fitness to the test as you climb up Low’s Peak which is about 4095 meters above sea level. Once you’ve reached your destination, cheer in celebration as you’ve just finished the summit climb! Bask in the glory of your successful climb as the brilliant orange sun rises from behind the mountains.
Walk back down to Laban Rata knowing you have now accomplished an amazing feat of climbing to the summit. Gorge yourself on a well-deserved breakfast before checking out and going back to Timpohon Gate. From the gate you’ll be transported back to Park HQ where you’ll be presented with a Certificate of Achievement as proof of your determination and ability to climb one of the highest mountains in South East Asia. Feast on a amazing buffet lunch made for champions such as yourself at the Balsam Restaurant before being brought back to Kota Kinabalu city which marks the end of your exciting adventure.
Cancellations after confirmation of tour will incur a 50% charge of the total package price. This fund is not refundable, in whole or in part, cannot be brought forward and/or used for future bookings.
