Climb up to the summit of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia, and bask in the sight of the beautiful sunrise.
Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu / Nabalu Market / Kinabalu Park
Embark on an adventure of a lifetime as you begin your journey to the summit of one of the highest mountains in South East Asia: Mount Kinabalu. Your adventure begins with a short 2-hour road trip to Kinabalu Park! Enjoy the scenic views of the local villages and the vast expanse of the paddy fields as you drive towards the park where your march to the summit will truly begin. You’ll make a short pit stop at the popular Nabalu Market where you can take a quick toilet break and browse through the local food, and souvenir stalls set up in the small town.
This small town became popular amongst tourists mainly due to its close location to the famous Kinabalu Park, is only 12km away from the park. Their popularity is also largely due to their picturesque view of Mount Kinabalu from their 15-meter watchtower. Take some photos of the famous mountain peak before you take off to the park. Once you’ve arrived at Kinabalu Park, you’ll check-in and have delicious dinner before retiring for the night at the park.
Day 2 - Park HQ / Timp. Gate. Ascend Mount Kinabalu / Laban Rata
Eat up as much as you can during your breakfast at Park Restaurant because you’re going to need all the energy you can get for your trek up Mt. Kinabalu. After you collect your packed lunches for later, you’ll then make your way to the Park HQ to register for the climb. You will also meet with your mountain guide and apply for your ID tag, it is extremely important to remember to wear your ID tag. Then you will move on to the Timpohon Gate where your climb up one of the highest mountains in South East Asia begins!
Your first challenge is to conquer a 4 to 5-hour hike to the Laban Rata huts which is approximately 3272 metres above sea level. While on the trek up Mt. Kinabalu you’ll get to enjoy the fresh, cooling air from being so high above sea level. Gaze at the diverse biodiversity of Kinabalu Park which has more than 5000 different vascular plant species. Besides a wide variety of plant life, Kinabalu Park is also abundant in its wildlife with around 90 different lowland mammal species that call this lush forest home. You’ll pass through different vegetation zones changing from oak and chestnut and eventually to alpine type vegetation. Kinabalu Park is also home to some rare flowers such as one of the rarest orchids in the world, Rothschild slipper orchid.
Once you reach Laban Rata towards the late afternoon, you’ll check into one of the huts and then later at night you’ll get to enjoy a fulfilling buffet dinner at the restaurant. You will be staying in the dormitory style beds in the Laban Rata Huts, however, they will be non-heated so if you are scared of the cold weather, do bring along some warm pyjamas for when retiring for the night.
Day 3 - Low's Peak / Descend Mount Kinabalu / Kota Kinabalu
Wake up at the crack of dawn for an early supper before heading out to continue your trek towards the summit of Mount Kinabalu. For those fitness buffs, be prepared to have your strength and energy put to the test as you climb up to Low’s peak which is about 4095 meters above sea level. Once you reach the peak you might be able to gaze at the awe-inspiring view of the sunrise from behind Mt. Kinabalu depending on the weather conditions and whether you were able to make it to the peak in time.
Descend back to Laban Rata feeling accomplished and satisfied that you managed to climb to the summit of Mt. Kinabalu. You’ll enjoy a nice, well-deserved breakfast before checking out and trekking all the way back to the Timpohon Gate where you’ll be transported to the Park HQ. Then you’ll be awarded a Certificate of Achievement as proof your amazing determination and ability to climb one of the highest mountains in South East Asia. Have a buffet lunch made for champions such as yourself at the Balsam Restaurant before you’re brought back to Kota Kinabalu city and thus marking the end of your exciting journey.
Cancellations after confirmation of tour will incur a 50% charge of the total package price. This fund is not refundable, in whole or in part, cannot be brought forward and/or used for future bookings.
