Get adventurous in Flores as you seek out Komodo dragons at Rinca and Komodo Island, snorkel with Manta rays at Manta Point, snorkel at Pink Beach and more!
Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Arrive in Ende and meet up with your tour guide who will drive you directly to Moni. Pass by Detusoko to see the famous emerald rice terraces that are maintained on the slopes of verdant hills surrounded by lush valleys and forests. Once you arrive at Moni, check in to your accommodation and settle down for the day.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu Lakes / Bajawa
Head to Kelimutu before the break of dawn to witness the colourful sunset at the tricoloured crater lakes. The three lakes have colours ranging from bright blue to dark green and even an intense red due to the different salts and oxides in them. After visiting the site, head onwards to the Saga and Wologai villages where you can observe the daily lives of the locals. End your day by stopping by Penggajawa Blue Stone Beach en route to Bajawa. Watch as local women inspect the blue stones to be collected and then sold as garden decorations.
Day 3 – Bajawa / Ruteng
After your breakfast at the hotel, explore the traditional village of the Bajawa tribe by going to Bena. Bena is a megalithic village whose people still preserve their beliefs of ancestral spirits and way of life. Stop by the slope of the active Inerie volcano for some photo-taking sessions. Enjoy your lunch along the way as you continue to Ruteng. At Aimere village, watch the “arak” distillation process and fresh palm juice tapping. At Ranamese Lake, you can view the magnificent peak of Mount Inerie. Arrive in Ruteng and check in to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will either visit “Liang Bua” or Ruteng Puu Village.
Day 4 – Ruteng / Labuan Bajo / Rinca Island / Komodo Island
Head to Labuan Bajo and make stops along the way at Lembor or Cancar, where you can see Lingko, the spiderweb-shaped rice fields. Get transferred to the pier of Labuan Bajo to set sail for Rinca Island. At Rinca Island you will then begin your trek through the dry forests in search of the formidable Komodo dragon. Besides the Komodo dragon, you may also find other animals like deer, water buffalo and the long-tailed macaque in these forests. Later, lunch will be served on the boat.
Day 5 – Komodo Island / Pink Beach / Manta Point / Labuan Bajo
Sail towards Lohliang after your breakfast, the Ranger station on Komodo Island, to start your trek. Trek through the forests of Komodo Island to see more Komodo dragons along with other wildlife. You may spot birds like the lesser sulphur-crested cockatoo and the collared kingfisher here. Return to the boat and head over to Pink Beach where you can go snorkelling and view gorgeous coral reefs and tropical fish. Sail towards Manta Point for more snorkelling, this time amongst the friendly giant Manta rays. Return to Labuan Bajo in the afternoon.
Day 6 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
Take a short city sightseeing tour on your last day here and visit Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave, which is a limestone cave with reflective inner walls. Its walls are smooth and shiny and reflect the light that shines in through a hole in the cave really well, hence the name of the cave. For your final stop, go and check out a local market where locals gather to sell their fresh produce and unique handicrafts. Buy some souvenirs before leaving for the airport for your flight back to Denpasar.
