Discover stunning sights of flora as you trek through the Mossy Forest, admire beautiful butterflies and the wonderful view of the BOH Tea Plantation.
We will kick start our day of adventure with our journey towards the BOH Tea Plantation in Sungei Palas, Southeast Asia’s largest tea plantation. Admire nature’s breathtaking beauty as our guide leads you to the prime spot for your best viewing experience of the 8000-acre tea plantation. As you are enjoying the scenic view, your guide will enlighten you about the tea leaves that you are gazing at.
Our exciting adventure continues towards Mount Brinchang, on a four-wheel drive. You will be rewarded with the most stunning view, stretching as far as Malacca on a good day. The scenic beauty can be further enhanced from the observation tower. Marvel at the sight of the different species of birds that soar through the sky at the peak.
Next up, an experience not to be missed is the Mossy Forest. Also known as the Cloud Rainforest, prepare to discover some of the most exotic flora nature has to offer as we trek through the lush forest, such as orchids, primitive ferns, spices, pitcher plants and medicinal plants. Being an ideal biotope to house moss, ferns, lichen and other flora, this moist tropical rainforest is also home to many fauna such as snakes, frogs, birds, and other interesting animals that are unique to its cool environment. (Note: Closure of Main Section (including the boardwalk) of Mossy Forrest from time to time due to road closure may happen. Tours to Mossy forrest will then be diverted to Coral Hill Trekking (Basic). Coral Hill is another section of Mossy Forrest).
As you stroll along the trail, take in the enchanting atmosphere of this dewy tropical rainforest and its strong ancient trees boasting lush greenery wrapped around its bodies. After exploring the charming Mossy Forest, we will journey back to the Sungei Palas Boh Estate.
Explore the factory at the tea plantation where the tea making process is explained and demonstrated such as sorting and drying the tea leaves. You can read about the history, how the tea plantation was founded by J.A. Russel, a British businessman in 1929 and stages of tea processing. Grasp this opportunity to purchase the lovely tea products and souvenirs at the shop to enjoy when you’re back home, especially if you are a tea lover!
Don’t forget to head towards BOH Tea Cafe where this restaurant-cum-viewing deck offers a tranquil and refreshing ambience as you enjoy a cup of warm tea and the mesmerising panoramic view. Immerse yourself in this captivating experience as you wait for your scrumptious strawberry tart and buttery scones.
Last on our list is the Butterfly Farm located near Kea Farm. This zoological garden and live insect gallery offer more than just a diverse range of butterflies; this large enclosure also encompasses an interesting collection of beetles, mantids, phasmids of various shapes and sizes. They even have a tortoise pen, reptile exhibit and a scorpion pond! However, its main attraction is the plethora of butterflies that flutter freely about. You can actually get quite close to these stunning creatures and their extraordinarily alluring wings which include the Rajah Brookes among any other species.
