Tour around the beautiful islands at Flores like Komodo and Rinca Island, then experience the traditional cultures at the villages like Bena and Todolela.
Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Be greeted by your tour guide upon arrival and drive directly to Moni. Then take a visit the Detusoko area to see the beautiful terrace rice field. Once you arrive at Moni you’ll check into your hotel for the night.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu / Bajawa
Visit the Kelimutu Volcano to get a gorgeous view of the sunrise and the volcano’s popular tri-coloured crater lakes. The lakes range from a blue to green and red. Its caused by different salts and oxides in suspension which give the lakes its multi-coloured hue. After enjoying the view of the volcano you’ll move on to Saga and Wologai village where you can learn about the local culture. You’ll be served lunch at Ende before continuing to Bajawa. You’ll make a stop at the popular Penggajawa Blue stone beach which is popular for its bright turquoise stones that are littered all over the beach. These stones are collected by the locals to later be sold to buyers from the city as their income.
Day 3 – Bajawa / Bena / Todolela
Your journey starts with a trip to Wawomuda and a trek to the volcano which should take about one and a half hours. You’ll then return to Bajawa for breakfast before trekking down to Bena and Todolela village. You’ll get to explore the traditional village of the Bajawa tribes and you’ll even get to learn about their culture. Then you can also visit Luba and Bena village that are villages that emphasises the importance of preserving their ancestral spirits. You’ll stop is to the slope of Inerie which is an active volcano to take some beautiful pictures. Then you’ll trek down to Todolela village where you’ll spend the night at the houses of the villagers.
Day 4 – Todolela / Gurusina / Malange / Bajawa
Trek down to Gurusina village passing a highly agricultural influenced area where you can see many animals like water buffaloes or other domestic animals like pigs or goats. You’ll also see many plantations for things such as vanilla, candlenut, cacao, white pepper and coffee. Continue your trek to Malanage hot springs where you can feel the hot, steaming water against your aching muscles. Then have delicious lunch and drive back to Bajawa for the most relaxed sleep you’ll ever have.
Day 5 – Bajawa / Ruteng
Continue your journey to the small town of Ruteng and make a stop along the way at Aimere village. At the village, you’ll get to see “arak” distillation and fresh palm juice tapping and you’ll also visit the ‘Ranamese’ Lake to see beautiful terraced rice fields in the Mano area. Once you arrive at Ruteng, you’ll check in to your accommodation for the night. In the afternoon, you’ll visit ‘Liang Bua’ before your day comes to an end.
Day 6 – Ruteng / Denge / Trek Waerebo
Drive towards the south coast of Denge village and begin your trek to Waerobo, the oldest village of Manggarainese. You’ll get to stroll through one of the most biologically wealthy areas in Indonesia as the forest surrounding the village is rich with diverse flora and fauna. If you’re feeling tired, you can take a short break at the river that leads all the way up to the village. Be greeted by conical houses and ‘drum houses’ with unique architecture once you arrive at the village. This village has become popular due to the opportunity you can take to live in their traditional houses and have dinner with the locals trying their local cuisine.
Day 7 – Waerobo / Denge / Labuan Bajo
Trek to the Denge Village then continue to Labuan Bajo. On the way, you’ll make stops at Iteng/Narang that has an amazing landscape view. Wide expanses of rice fields with verdant hills at the background will be some of the beautiful sights you’ll get to see. Another stop will be made at Waeramu beach for a cooling dip into the crystalline waters and if you’re feeling hungry, you’ll be served lunch boxes. Once you arrive at Labuan Bajo you’ll check in to your accommodation and have a nice dinner.
Day 8 – Labuan Bajo / Rinca / Komodo / Pink Beach / Labuan Bajo
Wake up bright and early in the morning to be brought to the harbour for you to board a boat to Komodo Island that will take around three and a half hours. Upon arrival, you’ll walk through the lush, dry forests and keep your eyes peeled as you might get to see young Komodo dragons hanging from the trees. You’ll also get a chance to see other adorable wild animals like wild pigs and deer. Then you’ll get back on the boat to sail towards Pink Beach for some snorkelling and swimming or relaxing on the soft sandy beaches. After exploring the coral reefs and becoming friends to colourful tropical fish, you’ll sail to Rinca Island for more jungle exploration. Then return back to the hotel at Labuan Bajo.
Day 9 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
For your last day in Flores you’ll go for a short city sightseeing tour to Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave and the local market. At the limestone cave, light shines on its smooth inner walls that creates a reflection making it look like a mirror. After exploring this cave and taking pictures galore you’ll get to browse through the stalls at the local market. You can get a souvenir or try some of the local delights at the market before going to the airport to catch your return flight.
