Travel to the Waerobo, Indonesia’s oldest traditional village, and learn from the locals themselves on how they live their daily lives!
Day 1 – Denpasar/ Labuan Bajo/ Denge
Step off the plane at Komodo Airport and get ready for 3 days of adventure! Meet with your guide and drive off to Denge Village which is about 4 hours away. You’ll make a stop at Lembor Village which is popular for its rice farms, one such attraction in the village is called “Lingko.” “Lingko” is an unexposed world wonder as it is a rice field that is shaped as a spider web and is probably the only rice field shaped in this way to exist in the world. You will be served lunch during your little road trip. Then make your way to Denge Village where you’ll be staying for the night and you will also enjoy a nice dinner.
Day 2 – Denge/ Trek Wae Rebo
After having breakfast in Denge Village, you embark on a trek to Wae Rebo. Wae Rebo is the oldest traditional village of the Manggarainese and is located in an isolated mountainous area. You’ll be trekking through dense rainforests and interesting vegetation on your way to the village. Its rainforests are said to be the wealthiest area in Indonesia in biological terms, even being referred to as a huge Garden of Eden. Spectacular scenery of the verdant forests and soothing sounds of nature will calm you during this trek. You can take a rest near the fresh water river on the way up to the village.
Upon arriving at the village, conical shaped buildings and friendly locals will greet you. This conical houses are used to hold meetings, rituals and Sunday morning prayers. The village also has what is referred to as a ‘drum house’ which holds significance in the village as a communal building for the clan and symbolizes the ideal unity of patrilineal descent. This village has become a major culture tourism attraction in West Flores as you get to experience the daily lives of the Manggarinese from the people themselves. Your day ends with a taste of the local cuisines for dinner with the clan and spending the night in their traditional houses.
Day 3 – Wae Rebo/ Denge/ Labuan Bajo
Wake up for a breakfast before trekking back down to Denge Village where you’ll be brought to Labuan Bajo which is located on the Western tip of Flores Island. On the way, you’ll make a number of stops such as a stop at Narang where you can get an amazing, panoramic view of the rice fields with the bright green hills in the background. Another stop will be at Waeramu beach where you’ll get to dive into the clear waters to escape the summer heat. Lunch will also be provided during this roadtrip. Once you arrive you’ll check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner before the tour comes to an end.
50% of the total package price will be incurred as cancellation fees once the tour has been confirmed.
