Travel around Flores, exploring Kelimutu Volcano, the forests of Komodo Island, Pink Beach and Manta Point!
Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Embark on your adventure with a drive to Moni after meeting your tour guide. You’ll make a stop at Detusoko area to see the beautiful terrace rice fields where its on the slope. After arriving at Moni, you’ll check in to your hotel and get ready for a busy day tomorrow.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu / Bajawa
Travel to Kelimutu Volcano early in the morning to get an amazing view of the brilliant sunrise. One of the popular attractions at the volcano is its magnificent three coloured crater lakes. These colourful crater lakes are created when different salts and oxides in suspension giving the lakes its hue ranging from blue to an intense red. You’ll also get to visit the Saga or Wologai village where you’ll get to observe their daily lives and learn about their culture. You’ll be served lunch at Ende before continuing on to Bajawa. Another stop will be made at Penggajawa Blue Stone beach where it made up entirely of turquoise, blue and reddish stones. The locals rely on collecting and selling these colourful stones for their income.
Day 3 – Bajawa / Ruteng / Labuan Bajo
First stop of the day is a visit to Bena village, a traditional village, where people preserve their ancestral spirits. The village has amazing stone formations, ancestral shrines and traditional houses. Your next stop is to the slop of Inerie to get Instagram-worthy photos of an active volcano. You’ll eat lunch en route to Ruteng. Another stop will be made at Almere village to see an ‘arak’ distillery and fresh palm juice tapping, you’ll also get to visit the ‘Ranamese’ Lake. Once you arrive at Ruteng which is a small town where there is a major Manggarainese tribe dwells. Then you’ll drive to Labuan Bajo where you’ll make a stop to Lingko Cancar area to see the ‘Lingko’, a spider web-shaped rice field.
Day 4 – Labuan Bajo / Komodo / Pink Beach / Manta Point / Labuan Bajo
After a delicious breakfast to board a boat to get to Komodo Island. The trip should take about 3 and a half hours by local wooden boat or one hour by fast boat. Once you arrive you’ll begin your trek through the forest with the help of a local ranger guide. One of the most popular residents of the island is, of course, the Komodo dragon which you can see in abundance at the island. You’ll also get to see other types of wildlife such as deer, wild pigs and numerous tropical birds.
Then board a boat to Pink Beach where you can go swimming or snorkelling in the coral reef amongst exotic marine life. The beaches soft pastel pink hue is due to a microscopic animal that produce a red pigment on the coral reefs, then fragments of this coral mixed with the white sands of the beach creating the Pink Beach. Then sail towards Manta Point where you might get a chance to get a glimpse of the giant manta rays. In the afternoon you’ll return back to Labuan Bajo for dinner and a night’s stay.
Day 5 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
Your last day will be spent taking a short sightseeing tour with your first stop at Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave. This limestone cave where the rays of light will stream in and reflect of the slick rock surfaces of the cave’s insides. Then go browsing through the stores at a local market before making your way to the airport to catch your flight.
