Step right onto the gentle sand and warm water of Tra Co Beach as you explore the hidden charms and wonders of Tra Co Beach in its fullest.
Tra Co Beach, a name you do not hear much but undoubtedly boasts one of the most beautiful coastal views in Vietnam. Located in the more rural part of Vietnam, Tra Co Beach is teeming with local folks going about their daily fishing journey and parking their boat as they return from their daily seafaring adventure. The beach itself stretches as far as 17 km from the northern Got Tip to the southern Ngoc Tip. The huge size of the beach means that it is able to accommodate many people and that it is a perfect location for adventure travellers to try out some other adrenaline-inducing fun such as moto crossing. Coupled with the stunning sunset view of the beach, Tra Co is definitely a destination you do not want to miss out on.
Day 1 - Ha Long / Tra Co (Lunch & Dinner)
From your hotel, you will drive 170 km to Tra Co Beach. The journey will take approximately 3 hours so you will have plenty of time to relax, stretch your body and enjoy the stunning scenery of the journey. Interestingly, the beach itself is located right next to China’s border so you will occasionally find Chinese speaking tourists and locals chatting away throughout the day. Once you arrive, you will be immediately greeted by the smooth wide sand that stretches as far as the eyes can see. The water itself is crystal blue and strategically located at the edge of the Tra Co Peninsula, giving an added charm of being the inland and ocean view simultaneously. Spanning 15 km in length and acting as a border for a natural island created by the tidal waves and sea stream, Tra Co Beach plays a unique role in the surrounding terrain structure as well. You will have all the time you want to walk along the beach trail and enjoy yourself throughout the whole day.
When evening starts to set in, you can also make your way to Con Mang where you can relax and enjoy the picturesque view of the sunset along with your significant other. While the area is still made of sand, it is actually denser than the other part of the beach, resulting in many locals trying out a dirtbike ride around the beach occasionally. If you are lucky, you may just chance upon the adventurous locals propelling their motor engine! Close to Con Mang is Sa Vi, Vietnam’s border point with China. From here, you can see straight toward China. Furthermore, Sa Vi also used to be a border point during the wartime – you may just find underground shelters scattered around the area. Once you are satisfied with your afternoon exploration, you will head back to the hotel to retire overnight at Tra Co.
Day 2 - Tra Co / Ha Long (Breakfast & Lunch)
With breakfast done, you will have time to relax and enjoy yourself by the beachside. Alternatively, you can also visit the historical Tra Co Communal House and learn more about the story behind this majestic house which has stood its ground since 1462. When noon arrives, you will enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant before making your way back to Ha Long and return to your hotel to conclude your tour.
