So, roll your sleeves and join in for a whole selection of adventure!
Day 1 - Jungle Hiking and Camp
First, you will head toward the HQ for an initial team meeting and safety briefing. Get to know your fellow teammates who will be spending the days with you and what you have to do to ensure your own safety. Then make your way to the beautiful Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park as you enjoy the beautiful view of the lush green park along the way. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you will start your trek properly. As you make your way around, you will get to explore the rich diversity of the local flora and fauna. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the culture and way of life of the Ruc Ca Roong - the jungle people who survive off of jungle resources.
Then, it is time for lunch and some quick rest. Take the opportunity to ask about any questions you have in mind to your guide and they will be more than happy to fill you in. Then, the trek continues toward the Tiger Cave. Once you arrive, you will set up camp by the sandy bank river of the cave. As you clean up and prepare for the night, the porter team will prepare some tasty Vietnamese meal with rice, veggies, soup and meat. The good news is, there will be rice wine as well. So dig in and enjoy the evening. Comes tomorrow, it is time for another good day’s trek.
Day 2 - Tiger Cave Series
The morning starts with a delicious breakfast and some coffee or tea. Be sure to eat up and fill your tummy to its max as you will be using much energy to traverse the arduous Tiger Cave. Also, do not forget to supply yourself with locally supplied water, a life jacket, helmet and headlamp before you make your way into the cave. First up is a swim into the cave. While there is an alternative dry route around the cave, it is highly recommended that you take the plunge and try out this swim for yourself. Inside the cave, you will get to experience a whole range of swimming, walking, scrambling and climbing that will put your own physical fitness to the test.
After you have made it to the other side of the cave, your porter will meet with you and collect your life jacket. Once you dry yourself off from the swim, you will take a short 15 minutes’ walk through the first doline and into the entrance of Hang Over. Here, you will find the beautiful interior of the cave and the sheer majesty of the place. It begins with a long narrow shaft and it expands as you enter deeper into the cave. Before long, you will find yourself reaching the grotto where beautiful stalagmites, stalactites, speleotherms and pools are seen to adorn the entire cave. Stop here for lunch and have some snack as you make your way toward the cave exit.
As you approach the Hang Over exit, you will see green illumination bouncing off the cave jungle. The current 2 caves (Hang Over and Hang Pygmy) and the beautiful jungle inside the caves were originally part of one huge cave before its ceiling collapsed. Coming into the massive chamber of Hang Pygmy, you will be equipped with proper abseiling safety gear, be briefed on the safety procedure and be secured on a harness for your protection. Taking turns, you will abseil your way down the cave. Once everybody is safe at the bottom floor, you will go with a short walk and turn the corner to a massive cathedral-like exit of Hang Pygmy.
Here, you will set up camp and retire for the night. Enjoy your scrumptious Vietnamese dinner and drink yourself away with the rice wine.
Day 3 - Homecoming
Wake up, pack up and clean up as you exit the cave and begin your half day trek home. Along the way, you will be able to stop for some light snack and personal time to marvel at the massive jungle valley you hiked. Once you exit the jungle, you will be greeted with some cold beverages and a bus ride to HQ.
