Tour Description:

The best way to start off the day is always with a good hearty breakfast. This is why we are going to take you on a gastronomic experience that is a choice of many locals. Previously known as Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang due to its previous location, the now known Imbi Market has once again relocated but is still the iconic place that it is known to be. Dubbed as one of KL’s best breakfast places, eat where the locals eat at this food paradise hidden in the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur. Not only famous for their fresh produce, there are also good authentic street food such as ginger wine bee hoon, kuih muih, flaky pastries, wonton noodles, Hainanese asam laksa, yong tau fu, chee cheong fun and popiah amongst many others.

The stalls here are usually always packed and many regulars flock here for their authentic Hainanese breakfast, even featured on the likes of TimeOut's list of 101 things to do in KL. Get your taste buds ready as they serve you their signature breakfast set consisting of Hainanese coffee, two half boiled eggs and two pieces of roti kahwin. Their Hainanese coffee is the classic kopitiam coffee, also known as ‘cham’, where it is served as a blend of coffee and tea with milk. The reason their Hainanese coffee stands out from the rest is because of the consistency of the smooth, velvety taste that lasts through the whole cup and its steady healthy froth on every cup that is managed without any fancy teh tarik antics that you usually see.

Next up, the soft boiled eggs here are served in a large aluminium mug covered with a pair of bowls. The eggs in the mug are still swimming in hot water and we recommend to remove your eggs after 5 minutes for that perfect wobbly texture and add in just a dash of pepper and soy sauce to further enhance the taste of the eggs. Eaten with this is the roti kahwin, which are two freshly toasted buns that are always fluffy with a perfectly crisp crust on the outside. This is served with fragrant homemade coconut jam, known as kaya, and rich slabs of butter.

Save some space in your stomach, because there are more delicious food coming right up! Indulge in the chee cheong fun, a steamed rice noodle roll that is served with a variety of yong tau fu items you can choose from such as meatballs, lady fingers, brinjal, fu chok (beancurd skin), fishball, tofu and many others, showered with your choice of sauce, we recommend the curry which is rich and flavourful along with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a slight nutty kick. Next up, is the divine mee halia with up to 9 choices of noodles. We will make sure you don’t miss out on their best selling ginger wine noodles. Noodles in a simple but fragrant and tasty broth can never go wrong.

Sink your teeth into the scrumptious sweet and salty Imbi-famous ‘fried gold cake’ or known to locals as kuih bakul. Beneath its thick crunchy batter lies the winning combination of ‘nian gao’ between layers of sweet potato and yam. More bite sized treasures await at the kuih muih stall. You will be spoilt for choice at the array of colourful traditional goodies. Lastly, pop some famous warm egg tarts in your mouth and enjoy the smooth melt-in-your-mouth egg custard complementing the flaky pastry that will definitely win your taste buds over.
