Tour around Flores exploring its amazing landscapes like Kelimutu Volcano and Pink Beach as well as learning about their culture at traditional villages like Bena village.
Day 1 – Denpasar / Ende / Moni
Meet with your tour guide upon arrival and start driving to Moni. On the way, take a visit to Detusoko area to savour the sight of the expanses of terraced rice fields. Once you arrive at Moni, check in to your hotel.
Day 2 – Moni / Kelimutu / Bajawa
Get up bright and early in the morning to catch the sunrise at the Kelimutu Volcano. The volcano is extremely popular amongst tourists not only for its sunrise view but also for its three coloured crater lakes. The lakes are created when different salts and oxides in suspension giving the lakes its vibrant hue ranging from blue to an intense red. It’s definitely a sight to see! Your next stop for the day is a visit to the Saga or Wologai village to learn about their culture and observe how they live their everyday lives. If you’re feeling peckish, lunch will be served shortly after in Ende before you continue on to Bajawa. You’ll make a stop at Penggajawa Blue Stone beach that is filled with turquoise coloured pebbles. The locals rely on these stones for their income by collecting and selling these colourful pebbles to buyers from the city.
Day 3 – Bajawa / Ruteng
Eat a nice breakfast before travelling to Bena village to explore a traditional village of the Bajawa tribes. This village has beautiful stone formations, ancestral shrines and traditional houses. The village also features conical thatched roof huts referred to as the “Ngadhu” and “Bhaga” which symbolizes their Male and Female ancestral spirits. Make a stop at Inerie, an active volcano, to take some breathtaking landscape photos. Lunch will be served en route to Ruteng where you’ll stop at Aimere village. At the village, you’ll see an “arak” distillery and fresh palm juice tapping.
You’ll have another photography opportunity when you go to “Ranamese” Lake that has a good view of the peak of Mt. Inerie. Once you finally arrive at Ruteng which is a small town that is the capital city of the Manggarai Regency. After you check into your accommodation for the night, you’ll get to visit “Liang Bua,” a limestone cave or Ruteng Puu village which has traditional houses of Manggarai tribe.
Day 4 – Ruteng / Labuan Bajo
Start your day with a drive to Labuan Bajo and on the way make a few stops. First stop is at Lembor or Cancar area to see the popular “Lingko” which is a spider-web shaped rice field and probably the only one of its kind. After lunch, your next stop is at your accommodation for the night.
Day 5 – Labuan Bajo / Rinca / Komodo / Pink Beach / Labuan Bajo
Take a boat to Komodo Island, passing by smaller islands and upon arrival, you’ll start trekking through the jungle. While on your trek keep your eyes peeled for some of the exotic wildlife such as the Komodo dragons, deer or wild pigs! Get back on the boat and head to Pink Beach for some fun in the sun with swimming or snorkelling. This natural phenomenon is caused because of microscopic animals that leave a red pigment on the corals. Fragments of these corals wash up ashore and mix with the sand, giving it the pink hue. Next stop, Rinca Island to see the amazing Komodo dragon. Then back to Labuan Bajo.
Day 6 – Labuan Bajo / Denpasar
After breakfast, you’re off to Batu Cermin (Mirror Stone) Cave for an amazing view of the mirror-like effect on the walls when the light shines through. Then you’ll get to visit the local market before you’re on your way to the airport.
