Explore the interesting tea culture in Vietnam with an exciting bike tour!
You drink it for relaxation, you drink it for health, you drink it simply because you like it - there are many ways to enjoy a cup of tea. Be it green tea, black tea, oolong tea, earl grey or peppermint tea, we each prefer our own favourite that allows us to simply enjoy the day and unwind. Indeed, many people have their own specific favourite choice of tea but how many people actually know how tea is produced and processed? How is it that its leaves could produce such delicious flavour that seeps through the tongue and waft into your nose? Behind the tea that everybody loves is a process that requires a lot of work and careful handling. This tour is designed to let you catch a glimpse of just that.
To make it even better, it is not like any other tour. You will do this while riding a bike from the busy city toward the local tea plantations and traditional village. Enjoy the journey as you pedal your way to the village while keeping up the pace, braving the wind and improving your stamina all at the same time. We choose to get you there by bus simply because we would like you to enjoy the scenic journey up close and personal throughout your way to the plantation. The countryside offers a whole new look to Vietnam and being on a bike allows you to breathe in that fresh clean air, take in the panoramic countryside view and explore the road in a much more adventurous way. Snap your camera and take lots of beautiful pictures along the way and do not forget to pose alongside the view to show that you have decided to take the challenge of riding a bike to the village.
Upon arrival, be immersed in the rural lifestyle of Vietnam that gives a fresh perspective compared to the city lifestyle that you usually see. You will see just how close the community is and how everybody plays a part in making the place better for each other. Feel free to go and approach the villagers for a chat as well. You will also be able to see the villagers harvesting tea leaves on the verdant field. If you are lucky, you might also get to participate in the tea harvesting process and experience the fun yourself! After a good day’s work, lunch will be provided for you at a local house to help replenish that energy that you have expended during the harvesting process.
Next comes the tea processing. The villagers will also show you the different steps involved in processing the tea leaves into the tea that you know and love. They will also tell you the history of the tea and how it has become part of a culture and tradition for the folks. Then, we will bring you to visit the Tea Museum and Thai Hai Village, a village consisting of the ethnic Tay people where they still keep to the traditional culture and norm of their ancestors. Of course, feel free to ask them anything you wish about their history and culture. Finally, the tour concludes and we will ride back with you to the city as the evening starts rolling in and you arrive in the city exhausted yet satisfied.
