Tour Description:

Day 1 - Kuala Tahan Jetty / Mutiara Taman Negara Resort

You should be at the Kuala Tahan Jetty at 3:00 pm, where you can then take a water taxi to Mutiara Taman Negara Resort. Check-in to your chalet and register for an Entry Permit and Camera License at the Department of Wildlife. When you’re settled in, head to the Interpretive Centre at 5:00 pm for a video show on the variety of flora and fauna that call Taman Negara their home.

After your dinner at Seri Mutiara Restaurant, meet up with your Nature Guide in the lobby of your resort at around 8:30 pm. Your guide will bring you on a stimulating night trek through the jungle on an activity called the Night Jungle Walk. On this walk, you might see many different types of insects that are enticed out into the open by the safety the darkness offers. Among them might be giant centipedes, giant stick insects, and moths.

Mammals emerging to forage for food in the night that you might spot are deer and wild boars. If tonight is your lucky night, you might even come across a wandering tapir as you shine your torchlight around in the dark. Besides animals and insects, the plants that grow in the forest make for curious sights in the night and are worth a quick look at. After an hour or more, make your way back to your chalet and call it a night.

Day 2 - Kumbang Hide

Have your breakfast at Seri Mutiara Restaurant at 7:30 am, and an hour after that, go and declare any items that you want to bring along into the jungle at the Department of Wildlife. Once you’ve done that, you can start off on your trek to Kuala Trenggan from Mutiara Taman Negara. Along the way, you can have your lunch when we stop to rest.

At 3:30 pm, you should arrive at Kumbang Hide. Settle down as the preparations for dinner begin. Throughout your overnight stay at Kumbang Hide, you can observe various animals that visit the salt lick to get their mineral supplement. Catch some tapirs, Sambar deer and Barking deer in the act with your torchlight and binoculars. Sightings of Seladang (wild cattle) are rarer, but you might just catch it, too, if it decides to grace you with its presence.

Day 3 - Orang Asli Settlement

On this day you will trek from Kumbang Hide to Kuala Trenggan. It should only take about an hour, and once you’re there, a boat will take you on your journey back to the resort. If possible, a stop at an Orang Asli settlement could be on the itinerary. Pay them a pleasant visit and be awed by the simplicity of their way of living in this modern age.

Back at the resort, you will be served lunch at Seri Mutiara Restaurant. The only thing planned for the rest of the day is a buffet dinner at the restaurant as well to end your day! Take the free time to rest, you’ll need it.

Day 4 - Canopy Walkway / Teresek Hill / Lata Berkoh

After breakfast, planned activities for the day are jungle trekking to Teresek Hill and to the Canopy Walkway, and a boat trip to Lata Berkoh after lunch. On your climb up Teresek Hill, admire the greenery that surrounds you and listen to the noises of nearby animals. Once at the top, you might see the tall summit of Gunung Tahan amongst the clouds. The view of the forest canopy below is nothing short of impressive either.

The Canopy Walkway presents a closer look at the canopy of trees it runs along. Hold on to the rope rails of the bridge as you march down it, for it will sway excitingly. The bridge goes on for about 530m, so take your time to truly take in the view from the top. Inhale the fresh, crisp air that is found nowhere else but in nature.

Lunch at Seri Mutiara Restaurant is at 1:00 pm and your boat trip to Lata Berkoh is at 2:30 pm. At Lata Berkoh, cascading waterfalls welcome you and you will be enticed to have a swim in the cool waters. Relieve any minor muscle aches in the flowing water and feel reinvigorated. Treat yourself to the buffet dinner at Seri Mutiara, have the rest of the evening to yourself, then tuck yourself in for a good night’s sleep.

Day 5 - Kuala Tahan Jetty

Have a scrumptious breakfast before making your way back to the Kuala Tahan Jetty!

Additional Information:

• Transfer duration above are estimated and subject to traffic and weather condition, and not inclusive of any sightseeing

• All rates quoted are based on English-speaking driver-cum-guide
• Please bring a change of clothes of T-shirts, long or short pants, swimwear and towel. Small rucksack for the trek, hat, raincoat, track shoes, sandals, insect repellent, sun protection lotion (for sun sensitive skin) and torchlight. Fishing rod (optional).
• Proceed to the Department of Wildlife to register and to obtain necessary permits and licenses
• The rainy season is between middle November to middle/end of January. During the rainy season, some of the activities may be cancelled for safety purposes
• The boat ride to and from Kuala Tembeling/ Kuala Tahan is not on a private basis.
• It is quicker to go to Kuantan from Taman Negara than via Kuala Lumpur. Optional drop off in Kuantan is with supplement. For those travelling to the east coast town of Kuantan, you will arrive there at around 1530 hrs.
• During the 1st day of Muslim festival (Hari Raya Aidul Fitri & Hari Raya Aidul Adha), the boat departure will be at 1000 hrs from Kuala Tahan to Kuala Tembeling Jetty and from Kuala Tembeling to the resort remain at 1330 hrs. All recreational activities also will be started at 1030 hrs due to prayers.
• Gifts for Orang Asli: We do encourage bringing simple gifts when visiting the native settlement, a normal Asian custom. However, we do recommend items such as exercise books, pencil, rice or biscuits. Sweets and snacks, especially in non-biodegradable plastics, are not encouraged
• Please adhere to strict pick-up time punctuality. Tour operators may forfeit tours for travellers if no-show during stipulated time
• Registered name of the traveller must be corresponding with photograph documentation (Example: Passport). Tour operators reserve the right to reject if registered traveller fails to provide photographed documentation of their own
• Note: Starting from 1st September 2017, a tourism tax of RM10 per room per night will be imposed on non-Malaysian tourists for all types of hotels and accommodations. This is payable to the hotel upon check-out
