Combine mountain biking, trekking and sightseeing on a single cycling trip around the stunning Ta Phin.
Grab on to your bicycle and start pedalling straight through the town of Sapa. Say goodbye to the busy city and chaotic traffic before turning your wheels and pedalling your way straight to the outskirts of Sapa. Cycle downhill through the green grass, scattered bushes, and tall trees on the roadside as you feel the breeze touching your cheeks. Before long, the famous Ta Phin village will come into sight and you will see just how lively it is when compared to the other villages near Sapa. This village is also home to the Black Hmong and Red Dao and is famous for its local agricultural products and practices.
Living side by side still allows the cultures of Black Hmong and Red Dao to remain original to each of their ancestral values. The members of the Black Hmong tribe usually don themselves in traditional attire and dark-coloured headscarf. The Red Dao people don a brighter coloured costume, most notable of all is their red headscarf. The Hmong members are well-known for dyeing their pieces of cloth in dark deep indigo color so it is not weird to see a tint of indigo ink on the fingers of Hmong women.. Dao women are famous for their meticulous brocade products, which people often buy as a souvenir for their loved ones. Be sure to spare some time to check out these unique products for yourself as well.
Besides the products sold by the Hmong and Dao, do not miss the chance to try the Dao’s herbal bath. A single herbal bath contains at least 10 different types of herbs, sometimes even going as many as 120. The herbs are collected from the forest and are believed to improve one’s health when bathed on the skin. It is said that Dao women go back to their work after only a few days’ rests after giving birth as a result of the herbal bath. Then, be sure to check out the abandoned monastery of Ta Phin as well, a resident that used to house twelve sisters during the Vietnam war. The nuns have since abandoned the building due to the war and it is now abandoned. However, the red moss covering the exterior exudes an almost dream-like feel to it, a perfect one for the photobook. Finally, bid goodbye to the village and head back to town on your tour car to conclude your tour.
