Lose yourself in the beauty and comfort of your trip as you explore the rich underwater world of the Celebes Sea and retire to your own room overlooking the island or ocean.
The charming Celebes Sea has its own subtle and irresistible way of luring you in. It first started with the water, oh the beautiful crystalline water. The fresh water of the Celebes Sea is not only a sight to behold but also a nursery of marine life for both big and small fishes alike. The water of this Bornean ocean is as diverse as the water surrounding Galapagos Island which houses a minimum of 450 fish species (17% of which is native to the water itself). So once you dive down into the water, you will be met with a breathtaking sight that is unmatched and unlike anywhere else. So, gear up and ready yourself for the underwater adventure you crave because you are up for more than just a simple marine exploration the moment you step into the island.
Secondly is the accommodation. At Mabul Island, your standard cottage gives you a choice of either a sea view or a non-sea view room to choose from. Of course, it would be nice to be able to wake up in the morning greeted by the beautiful scenery of the roaring ocean and the cry of seagulls looking for food in the early morning. The room comes with the choice of two single beds or a double bed and is spacious enough for you to add in one more extra bed should you need any. This spacious room is perfect if you are travelling with your friends or family as it offers the perfect balance between luxury and price. Also, you will have the choice of either sharing your balcony with your neighbour on a semi-detached room or a completely private room on your own. If you wish to be able to get to know some of the travellers coming in here, do feel free to request for a shared balcony. That morning conversation may turn into the first meeting between you and your lifelong friend.
Finally, as much as the Celebes Sea is rich in the fish species, the ocean floor is also beautifully decorated with coral reefs lining up the entire seabed in a colourful blanket. These corals are home to small fishes and their younglings so occasionally you will see them emerging from the corals in search of food or to have some fun. Plus, you will see that the fishes and the corals co-exist together in a symbiotic relationship where the corals protect the fish from predators while the fish brings in food and leftovers for the corals. This delicate relationship has been honed under years of evolution and it is not hard to see why the corals are so important for the marine ecosystem.
