Discover the tranquil and beautiful village of the Hmong people!
Put on your best trekking shoes as we will be walking about 4 kilometres to the northernmost village of Sapa. Along with Cat Cat, Lao Chai or Ta Van, Sin Chai is another must-visit destination of Sapa. The distinct feature of the tour it is that the small Black HMong village is not touristy at all, but rather quiet and away from the daily busy life. Lying at the foot of Fansipan Mountain, surrounded by large hills and silent vast forests, and “looked after” by Hoang Lien National Park, Sin Chai offers a magnificent panorama view of the mountainous Sapa. There are unending rice terraces, extending corn fields like many other villages in Sapa as farming is the local’s main livelihood. However, being surrounded by mountains, the Hmong also grow colourful cardamom on the mountainside. The cardamoms are a great support to the people’s life because there is only one rice farming season a year, from April to September only.
When arriving at Sin Chai, no words can really describe the serenity and beauty of the place. You will come across houses roofed by pomu-made cottages, pieces of linen cloth hung on the porches, and farming tools still lying on the ground. Women here weave and sew all year round, making their family’s attire, and even making their own unique wedding dresses, waiting to be worn on the very special day. They even grow linen plants to make their own cloth. Another special detail of Sin Chai is that villagers here have a longevity live. When asked why, people here can’t give a precise answer, but believe it is due to being surrounded by the fresh nature. Visit the local homes of the Black Hmong and have small talks with the elders of the village, learning more about the life of the people here. After uncovering the fascinating stories about Sin Chai, a car will be ready to pick you up and drive you back, wrapping up the exciting trip.
