Tour Description:

Situated on the outskirts of Bau town, the decades-old sprawling Serikin weekend night market is a treasure trove of surprises. Get ready to be spoilt for choice with an array of enticing wares from Indonesia, Kalimantan and Borneo in abundance due to the absence of border patrols and customs. Besides merchandises, fabrics, handicrafts, antiques, and counterfeit branded goods, there are also fresh produce and food vendors offering you authentic Bornean food. Let the scent of fried goods guide you to all the different stalls there.

As one of the most endangered species on the planet with numbers decreasing over time, the Orang Utans, the world's largest tree-dwelling primates would be extinct if not for sanctuaries such as the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. Established in 1975, the centre has taken on the mantle of protecting, caring and rehabilitating rescued wild Orang Utans and other wild animals. The tour gives you the opportunity to observe the Orang Utans during mealtimes, nursing habits and their playful antics, giving you a glimpse into their daily lives. Try spotting a myriad of colourful birds such as the Scarlet-rumped Trogon, Blue-winged Leafbird and more at the lush, leafy sanctuary.

Settle in for a relaxing cruise down the majestic Sarawak River aboard the MV Equatorial for a picturesque view of the beautiful Kuching skyline. Be enthralled by landmarks of a bygone era and local marvels that still stand majestically along the riverbanks such as Fort Margherita, The Astana, “tambangs”(small house-like boats used for ferrying locals across the river), and Parliament House with its uniquely shaped ‘Melanau’ tribe hat roof. If weather permits, bask in the warmth of the Kuching sunset and don’t forget your camera as there are plenty of picture-perfect moments!
