See the elusive orangutans in this famous rehabilitation centre before having a relaxing kayak down the beautiful Sungai Sarawak Kiri!
Covering a vast area of 740 acres, the Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre serves as the only remaining green belt near to the city that offers a sanctuary for Orangutans. As you walk around the centre, you will encounter displaced Orangutans, which are often referred to as “men of the jungle”. Feel the tug at your heartstrings as you learn about how these orangutans were rescued from captivity or have been orphaned since young and are trained to survive in their natural surroundings. Enjoy a peaceful walk on the trails while observing the elusive Orangutans.
After getting up close and personal with the Orangutans at the sanctuary, we will hop over to Kampung Bengoh by the Sungai Sarawak Kiri, which is a tributary of the main Sarawak River the ultimately flows pass the famed Kuching Waterfront. As you row along the river slowly and gently after a quick safety briefing, take in the beautiful natural settings surrounded by picturesque landscapes and unique limestone.
About midway through our relaxing paddle, we will arrive at a local Bidayuh village, Kampung Danu, populated by friendly and easy-going village folk that was once famed for their feared headhunters! After lunch, we will be exploring a herb garden where guests can see, touch and smell interesting plant species such as the carnivorous pitcher plants and many other exotic herbs before continuing our paddle towards Kampung Semadang!
