Visit Magic Coral island, Mamutik Island and Sulug island via paddling through the South China Sea in a kayak and explore their waters via snorkelling.
Day 1 – Jesselton Point Jetty / Manukan Island / Magic Coral Island / Mamutik Island
Your island getaway starts with you being picked up from your hotel at 9:00 am in the morning to be sent to Jesselton Point Jetty where you will take a boat ride to Manukan island. Once you’re on the island, your guide will come to you and you will receive your paddling gear and carry out an equipment check to ensure that all is good before you start your journey. There will also be a safety briefing given by a trained professional guide.
When all that has been done, you can climb into your kayak and start paddling away towards the direction of Magic Coral island. The trip should take around 40 minutes of kayaking through the beautiful glittering South China Sea. When you reach the shore of the island, emerge from your kayak and put on your snorkelling gear for a round of snorkelling. Your guide will point out the best snorkelling spots where you can get delightful views of the coral and fish.
After about an hour and a half of snorkelling, return to your kayak to make your way to Mamutik island for a much-needed lunch. A delicious BBQ lunch will be served, so eat up to your heart’s content as you will have time to digest it all before you continue with your activities for the day. Spend some leisure time checking out the island and setting up your camping ground as you will be spending the night on this luxuriously private and quiet island.
Towards evening, take your kayaks out to the sea again for some paddling around the island and admire the sunset as the sun descends from the sky to melt into the horizon where sky and sea meet, bringing a lovely duskiness to the heavens. Darkness will fall soon after, so return to land and help out with dinner preparations. Relax around the fire pit while the BBQ dinner is being prepared. Chow down and then settle in for the night under the starry sky.
Day 2 – Mamutik island / Sulug island / Manukan island / Kota Kinabalu
On the second and final day of your island excursion, have your breakfast that was prepared for you and then pack up to paddle your way to Sapi island. This journey will be slightly longer than the others, taking about 80 minutes of travel time. Upon reaching the island, you will be brought on a snorkelling adventure. Sulug’s waters reflect its land in that it is quiet and peaceful even underwater. Find coral scattered around and straying fish swimming around you.
When you’ve had your fill of snorkelling, return to shore and lounge on the gorgeous beach full of coral and intact seashells if lunch is still being prepared. After lunch has been had, you will paddle back to Manukan island where you will rest for a bit before packing up for your trip back to the mainland by boat. Your driver will meet you there and take you back to your hotel for some much-needed rest and a return to civilization. This marks the end of your sea kayaking adventure to several of Sabah’s beautiful islands.
