Tour Description:

Pewter is an alloy of tin and is world-renowned for its graceful sheen. In Malaysia, Royal Selangor has been producing lavish works of pewter for over a hundred years and has swiftly grown to overtake even those in London and Canada. Royal Selangor is internationally recognised for innovative design and superior craftsmanship, and have partnered up with major organizations like the Victoria and Albert art museum in London. Today, Royal Selangor also produces ethereal jewellery and elegant ornaments under their other brands like Selberan and Comyns.

The tour starts as we whisk you away to The Gallery of Royal Selangor. When you enter, we immediately introduce you to the history of Royal Selangor how it became a part of Malaysian History of locals and the rest of the world alike. Revisit Malaysia’s colonial past, back to days when Malaysia was the biggest tin exporter in the world, and listen to the stories of the hardworking individuals who perfected their craft to achieve their enterprise today. Then, we take you behind the scenes to the factory where artisans are actively making pieces that will go on sale. You get to watch them put all their skills to the test as they laboriously hand-craft each and every pewter piece. Royal Selangor also gives you an opportunity to craft your own personalised pewter dish by yourself. Emboss your name into a pewter disc and hammer it into the form of a dish before polishing it and taking it home to display to your guests.
