Tour Description:

Once largely popular for its booming tin mining industry, the town of Gopeng today has developed over time to become one of the most sought-after destinations in Malaysia for an adventure packed outdoor excursions. Gopeng is situated approximately 20km from Ipoh and is encompassed within the expansive lush greenery of its rainforest, beautiful cascading waterfalls, rushing clear river streams, fascinating geological wonders such as the popular limestone caves Gua Tempurung and Gua Kandu. Gopeng is the ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts of all ages and is perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Get to know our friendly and experienced nature guide that will be there to greet you before we kick-start your adventure. Our experienced nature guide will usher you into the jungle on this cool and calm night as he takes the lead. Enlighten yourself with the knowledge of daily lives of the locals as our guide conveys the interesting local stories that were before our time. Jump headfirst into this unique experience of exploring the captivating mystery within the flourishing rainforest in the darkness of the night. Enjoy the awe-inspiring and fascinating experience as you try to get acquainted with the interesting jungle wildlife of the night that makes very rare appearances in the daytime. If you are keen to learn more about the impressive jungle creatures, do not be shy to seek assistance from our experienced nature guide to explain further about the wonderful wildlife. Among the fauna that is generally more active in the night are the insects so make sure you keep an eye out for the various type of insects in the jungle such as stick insects, grasshoppers, beetles and spiders among many others. As you journey along, you may even be lucky enough to interact with the rare civet cat (musang) and slow loris as they come out to play in the dark. As you feed your interest further in your discovery of the abundant flora and fauna in this immersive experience, be sure to ensure your safety as you walk along the pathway as it may be bumpy or slippery in the night.

If you are in luck, further along, your adventure, you may even be able to catch sight of the marvellous fireflies that whiz around gracefully in the night like stunning shining stars in the dark. The fireflies produce a warm flickering glow and when they are in large groups, they sometimes even routinely synchronize their light patterns producing a spectacular light show! However, do be cautious as this lightning bugs are sensitive to light, therefore, be sure to face your torchlights away from them. Other unique life you may be able to find along your journey includes the glow in the dark fungi that contrasts with the greenery. You can even find small durian plantations among the jungle. Durians are known as the king of fruits and are widely enjoyed all over Malaysia. However, they are known to carry a pungent odour that may not be pleasant for first-timers. Enjoy this elevated experience as your senses are heightened in the dark night and embark on your exciting nature excursion in the depths of the jungle!

Besides the amazing wildlife discovery, Gopeng is also well known for their magnificent caves. Get ready for an adrenaline inducing caving adventure as we make our way to Gua Kandu. Prepare for a steep climb before you reach the majestic entrance of the cave. Gua Kandu is approximately 35 feet in height and you will be able to gawk at the wonderful stalagmites hanging down from the cave ceiling and the guano scattered across the cave floor. Make sure you bring along a torchlight or headlight as the cave is not very well lit and take note that the air may feel heavy and slightly dusty as it is the nature of a limestone cave. As you embark on your caving adventure, follow in the footsteps of your experienced guide as he leads you through the cave and makes sure you keep close as certain areas of the cave are actually a circular cavern and could have you going around in circles. Do not be alarmed if you have to get on all fours to crawl through certain parts of the cave as some of the ceilings is only a few feet tall so make sure you mind your head!

Enjoy the hands-on experience of your cave exploration as you come across numerous unique rock formations that resemble beasts and humans. Our experienced guide will tell you their names and explain the stories behind them as we encounter these interesting formations along the adventure. Do not worry as ropes have been installed in certain areas to aid you in climbing up some steep sections. As you explore the fascinating Gua Kandu, our experienced guide will tell you about the history of the cave. As your remarkable adventure comes to an end, your transport will be awaiting you.
