Explore the deeply historical Kanchanaburi city that is located 130 kilometers away from Bangkok that is within a mountainous region bordering Burma. The quaint town stands in the midst of towering limestone hills and fields of sugar cane. Within the vicinity of the town lies the rivers Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai. The Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai carry a tragic past as the famous bridge of Burma Railway crosses the river of Khwae Yai. The bridge was built by the Empire of Japan during World War II, which resulted in the deaths of many labourers involved in building the bridge.
Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to visit the well-maintained Don Rak War cemetery which is the final resting place of the labourers that built the famous Burma Railway. Then, your next stop will be the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre where you will gain some insight on the tragic event that occurred during World War II to build the railway and the tribulations experienced by the labourers. Have an enjoyable time crossing the three rivers meeting in Kanchanaburi, Mae Klong, Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai. You will be at a perfect spot to gaze at the River Kwai Bridge.
After a long and exhausting adventure, you will be provided with a delectable lunch at a local restaurant where you can taste the flavours of the region. Once the Sun reaches the peak of the horizon, you will head to the notorious ‘Death Railway’ by boarding the train for a trip and watch beautiful scenery blur past you.
