Tour Description:

We will depart from hotel lobby at 10 am for Rantau Abang Turtle Beach; a beach that is one of the only six in the world graced by the presence of the giant leatherback turtle. The journey is approximately 56 km from Kuala Terengganu so sit back, relax and take in the sights of the charming and serene countryside that Terengganu is well-known for. An idyllic road trip passing traditional Malay homes along coastal rides provides a refreshing sight and experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Once we have arrived at Rantau Abang Forest Reserve Park, we will begin our trek under shady canopies of one of the oldest rainforests in the world and admire the beauty Mother Nature has granted us. The sight of verdure is not the only thing that will captivate you; keep your ears tuned to the sounds of the forest as you may just pick up nature’s symphony of cicadas, an orchestration of sounds you have never heard before. Then, we will visit the Turtle Information Centre to find out more about the conservation and protection of these rare species. There will be a showing of an educational video on giant leatherback turtles before we head to the Rantau Abang beach.

The soft sands and briny tang of the sea are enough to lift your mood and banish all worries. We will proceed to the Turtle Rock—called the Batu Penyu in Malay. The locals claim that the turtles are attracted to nest at Rantau Abang because of the rock itself; hence the name, Turtle Rock. A while later, you will enjoy a short and simple picnic lunch on the beach before concluding the tour and departing for your hotel at Kuala Terengganu.
