Join us on this tour and experience a one-of-a-kind adventure!
Day 1 – Hanoi / Pu Luong
Our journey starts once we pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi on our limousine bus. The driving distance from Hanoi to Pu Luong is around 160 kilometres and it usually takes around 4.5 hours. However, we will make several stops along the way to let you enjoy the scenic countryside. After driving for around 2 hours from Hanoi, we will stop at Luong Son where you can have a short break while admiring the beautiful green valleys. As we drive along the famous Thung Khe Pass, we could view the picturesque mountain landscapes and arrive at our next stop, the local market of the Muong ethnic minority group. Besides shopping for local products, you can interact with the locals and observe how they go about their daily routines here. We will then continue our drive towards Pu Luong Nature Reserve with a short transfer into a van in Mai Chau.
Next, we will check in to our room at the Pu Luong Eco Garden – The Mountain Retreat and have our lunch. In the afternoon, our van will bring us to the starting point of our trekking route for today. We are going to visit the Thai ethnic villages of Chieng Lau, Yen and Ba which are hidden in the rural area of Pu Luong. We have to trek along the country trails through the sugarcane fields and rice terraces as well as crossing the hanging bridges to reach these villages. Not only can you learn more about the local culture and interact with the locals, you can also learn about the traditional agricultural technique from the farmers at the duck farms here. After the strenuous trekking, we will relax and board the bamboo raft on a scenic cruise down the Cham River. We will return to the hotel and you are free to spend your time before we gather for the delicious barbecue dinner served with local rice wine. Retreat to your room and have an early night.
Day 2 – Pu Luong / Ninh Binh
Prepare yourself for the ultimate trekking experience today with a hearty and filling breakfast! Our main destination for the day is the isolated Black Thai ethnic minority village of Kho Muong. Located deep inside the mountains and forests, we need to hike up the hilly roads along the rice fields and cross the stream to reach Kho Muong Village. The trekking distance is quite challenging as well since we have to trek for around 6 kilometres. However, our long journey to this rural village will surely pay off once we meet the locals and learn about their traditions which have been passed down for over 3 centuries here.
While we are at Kho Muong, a visit to the nearby Doi Cave (Bat Cave) should definitely not be missed. As we explore this largest cave in Pu Luong, feel free to admire its spectacular formations of stalactites and stalagmites. We will also witness the rich biodiversity inside the cave as we meet the 5 different species of bat colonies here. By noon, we will return to our hotel and have our lunch. You are free to unwind around the area before we leave for Ninh Binh at 2.30 pm. After driving for around 3 hours, we will reach the Ninh Binh Retreat and check in to our rooms for the night. You are free to spend time on your own before we gather for dinner. Have a good night’s sleep and get ready for the upcoming adventure!
Day 3 – Ninh Binh / Trang An / Hanoi
Wake up early and fuel up with breakfast before we head towards the former capital of Vietnam! We will cycle through the limestone mountains to reach the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu. Our exploration begins as we learn about the ancient history of Vietnam by visiting the two temples built in the 10th century to commemorate the Emperors of Hoa Lu. We will also hike up the Ma Yen Mountain to view the tomb of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang, the first Vietnamese emperor after the liberation from Chinese Southern Han Dynasty. While we are at the summit of the mountain, don’t miss out on the panoramic birds-eye-view of the surroundings!
On our way back to Ninh Binh, we will stop by a local family’s house and enjoy a cup of tea with them while learning more about their daily lives and traditions. We will return to our hotel and check out before we have our lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit the scenic Ha Long Bay of the land, Trang An. The best way to enjoy this UNESCO World Heritage Site is to board a boat down the river and marvel at the stunning limestone karsts amidst the lush vegetation. After experiencing this therapeutic activity, we will return to Hanoi with your choice of transportation (train or bus). Our tour concludes as we drop you off at your hotel in the city.
