Established in 1999, Pu Luong Nature Reserve is a beautiful destination boasting rich biodiversity and natural wonders. On top of that, its peaceful countryside atmosphere and preserved tribal culture have attracted many people to come and visit the nature reserve. In order to take in all the interesting sights of Pu Luong, join us on this trekking adventure and discover the hidden charms of this area!
Day 1 – Hanoi / Pu Luong
Our journey begins as we pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi on our limousine bus. After driving for around 2 hours, we will have a quick stop at Luong Son where you can start to notice the Vietnamese countryside landscape. The charming scenery of green valleys and lush mountains will become more common when we pass through the famous Thung Khe Pass on our way to the local market of the Muong Ethnic Minority. Once you have shopped around at the market, we will head towards Mai Chau where we will board a van for our transfer to Pu Luong Nature Reserve. In an hour, we will reach the Pu Luong Eco Garden – The Mountain Retreat where we will stay for the night. We will have our lunch at the hotel and settle into our rooms before continuing our activities in the afternoon.
At 2:30 pm, we will board our van and set off to the starting point of the easy trail for today. We will trek around Pu Luong Nature Reserve by walking down the small country road while passing by the extensive rice terraces and sugar cane fields. After crossing the hanging bridges, we will reach the remote area inhabited by the Thai ethnic minority groups here. We will visit the villages of Chieng Lau, Yen and Ba to learn more about the local tribal culture while trekking around this area. We could also observe the rural lifestyle and learn about the local agriculture method when we stop by the giant water wheels near the duck farms. To relieve our fatigue from the arduous trekking, we will board the bamboo raft to enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Cham River. After that, we will drive back to our hotel and you can unwind before we gather for a scrumptious barbecue dinner with a chance to sip at the local rice wine. Return to your dorm room at the traditional stilt house and enjoy a peaceful night in the nature reserve.
Day 2 – Pu Luong / Hanoi
Wake up early in the morning and don’t miss out on the breathtaking scenery of the mountain ranges from the hotel. Once we fuel up and recharge our energy with breakfast, we are ready to set out on our exciting adventure for the day! The trail is more challenging than the one we have experienced in the previous day. We will have to trek through the paddy fields and cross the stream during this medium trek route. As we conquer the countryside trail, we will arrive at the rural villages of the Black Thai minority groups where we can observe the daily activities of the locals and interact with them. Besides immersing ourselves in the local culture, get ready to be captivated by the natural beauty where green valleys and lush mountains surround us.
Next, we need to trek for around 6 kilometres to reach the Kho Muong Village which is isolated from other villages in the area as it lies deep inside the nature reserve amidst the forests and mountain ranges. While we are here, we can witness the rural way of living which has been passed down for over 3 centuries. In this village, we will also explore the largest cave in Pu Luong named Doi Cave (Bat Cave). As the home for 5 species of bat colonies, this massive limestone karst cave will definitely amaze you with its biodiversity as well as the giant formations of stalactites and stalagmites. After we finish our cave exploration, we will return to the hotel and check out of our rooms. We will enjoy our lunch here and you are free to unwind before we return to Hanoi. You can walk around the area to enjoy the rural atmosphere or simply relax by the infinity pool at the hotel. At 2 pm, we will board the van to Mai Chau where we will transfer to the limousine bus for our journey back to Hanoi. As the drive is quite long, we will have a quick toilet break along the way. The tour ends as we arrive in Hanoi and drop you off at your hotel.
