Day 1 – Hanoi / Pu Luong
Our adventure begins as we pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi and head towards Pu Luong with several stops along the way. As we leave the city behind on our limousine bus, you can notice the change in scenery as we reach Luong Son for our short toilet break. We will be welcomed with the picturesque mountain scenery and countryside vibe when we drive along the Thung Khe Pass on our way to the local market of Muong ethnic minority. After we shop for local products here, we will continue our journey towards Pu Luong with a quick stop at Mai Chau to transfer into a van. Once we arrive, we will check in to our accommodation at Pu Luong Eco Garden – The Mountain Retreat and have our lunch there.
In the afternoon, we will board the van to the starting point of our first trekking route in Pu Luong. We will visit the local Thai ethnic minority villages of Chieng Lau, Yen and Ba. Before we reach our destinations, we need to walk through the country roads along the rice terraces and sugarcane fields as well as crossing the suspension bridges. As the villages are located in remote areas, we have to trek for awhile in order to meet the local tribes and observe their daily activities. We could also learn about the traditional agricultural method when we visit the duck farms near the giant waterwheels. To conclude our trekking adventure for the day, we will board the bamboo raft and cruise along the Cham River. As we return to the hotel, we will try the local rice wine and indulge in the delicious barbecue dinner. Retreat to your room at the traditional stilt house and rest for the night.
Day 2 – Pu Luong (Hieu Waterfall)
Get ready to embark on the ultimate trekking adventure today! Before we start our journey, make sure you fuel up with the hearty breakfast and recharge your energy. We will board our van towards Pho Doan where the trek begins. If your visit to Pho Doan coincides with Thursday and Sunday morning, we will make a quick visit to the local market and experience the local lifestyle here. On other days, we will start our trekking immediately from the starting point.
The trail we are going to take is quite challenging and long with the total distance of 10 kilometres. We need to hike up and down the small trails passing by the magnificent scenery of extensive rice terraces, paddy fields and lush jungles in order to reach the Hieu Waterfall. As we have burned all the calories on the way here, we will satisfy our hunger by having a scrumptious lunch by the waterfall. You will have the entire afternoon to relax and explore the area on your own. Feel free to swim at the clear pool below the waterfall or dive into it if you are up for the challenge! Otherwise, you could simply admire the beauty of the cascading water or wander around the nearby jungle to kill the time. At 5 pm, we will head back to our hotel and you could rest before we gather for dinner. After the barbecue dinner, you can retreat to your room and have an early night.
Day 3 – Pu Luong / Hanoi
Wake up early and have your breakfast before we begin our final trekking trip! Although the trail is not as difficult as the one we go through the day before, we still need to hike up the small mountain roads to reach the isolated village of Kho Muong. As the village is hidden amidst the mountain ranges and verdant forests, we have to trek through the paddy fields and cross the streams to reach this rural area. Once we arrive, we could interact with the locals and learn more about the culture of Black Thai minority group which has been passed down for over 300 years here.
Besides immersing ourselves in the local tradition, we could also explore the natural beauty of Kho Muong Village. We will visit the Doi Cave (Bat Cave) which is also the largest cave in Pu Luong. Not only can we admire the magnificent formations of stalactites and stalagmites, we will also be impressed with the rich biodiversity inside the cave showcased by its 5 species of bat colonies. After we have covered all the activities here, we will return to our hotel and have our lunch. You are free to spend your time before we return to Hanoi at 2 pm. We will head towards Mai Chau to transfer into the limousine bus for our return trip. Our wonderful trekking expedition ends as we drop you off at your hotel in Hanoi.
