Day 1 – Hanoi / Pu Luong
Our trip starts once we pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi on our limousine bus. We will head towards Pu Luong while making several stops along the way to let you enjoy the picturesque Vietnamese countryside. After driving for around 2 hours, we will stop at Luong Son for a short break and you can observe the scenery of green valleys around this area. We will be able to view more beautiful mountain landscapes as we drive along the renowned Thung Khe Pass on our way to the local market of Muong ethnic minority. Shop for some local products and we will continue our journey to Pu Luong with a quick transfer into a van in Mai Chau.
Once we check in to our rooms at the Pu Luong Eco Garden – The Mountain Retreat hotel, we will have our lunch and relax before our trekking trip in the afternoon. At around 2.30 pm, we will head towards the starting point of the easy trek route and begin our trekking adventure for today. We will visit the Thai ethnic minority villages of Chieng Lau, Yen and Ba. As the villages are located in a remote area, we will have to trek through sugarcane fields and rice terraces as well as cross the suspension bridges to reach our destinations. Don’t forget to immerse yourself in the local culture once you meet the locals! We can also learn about the traditional agricultural method practised by the locals when we stop at the duck farms near the giant waterwheels. After an exciting yet tiring exploration, we will board the bamboo raft and enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Cham River. We will return to the hotel and indulge in our barbecue dinner before we rest for the night.
Day 2 – Pu Luong (Hieu Waterfall)
Wake up early and remember to fuel up with the hearty breakfast! We will embark on the ultimate trekking experience which is going to be fun yet challenging. As we enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the mountainous area, we will board our van and head towards Pho Doan. If your visit coincides with Thursday or Sunday morning, we will drop by the local market of Pho Doan and have a hands-on experience of the rural lifestyle. On the other days, we will start our trekking once we arrive.
Our main highlight for the day is the enchanting Hieu Waterfall located deep inside the forest of Pu Luong Nature Reserve. We will need to hike up and down the country trails around the paddy fields and lush jungles for around 10 kilometres to reach the waterfall. After the strenuous trekking, we will take a rest and enjoy a scrumptious lunch by the falls. You can spend the entire afternoon relaxing around the area on your own. Feel free to swim in the refreshing pool of Hieu Waterfall or feel the strong currents of the cascading water. You could also wander around the surrounding jungles and explore the unspoiled nature. At 5 pm, we will return to our hotel and gather for our barbecue dinner. Besides the delicious meal, you can also try the tasty local rice wine. Retreat to your room and have an early night.
Day 3 – Pu Luong / Hanoi
Our final trekking adventure will bring us to interesting sights which showcase the natural beauty and cultural charm of Pu Luong. Once we have our breakfast, we will head down to the starting point of the trail. We are going to visit the ethnic minority village of Kho Muong which is situated amidst the mountain ranges and verdant forests. As this village is isolated from other villages in the area, you can expect hiking up the hilly roads and small paths along the paddy fields. We will also need to cross the stream and cover the distance of around 6 kilometres to reach the Kho Muong Village. Make sure you learn about the local traditions that have been passed down for over 300 years here!
Besides visiting the village, we will also explore the nearby Doi Cave (Bat Cave). This largest cave in Pu Luong boasts rich biodiversity as it is the home to 5 species of bat colonies. While we are inside the cave, don’t miss out on the spectacular formations of stalactites and stalagmites! By noon, we will return to the hotel and have our lunch there. You will have some free time to relax before we return to Hanoi. At 2 pm, we will board the van to Mai Chau and transfer into the limousine bus for our return trip to the city. Our remarkable trekking adventure ends as we drop you off at your hotel in Hanoi.
