Delve into the peaceful countryside pacing in Phuket and learn more about the life of locals on the island by bike.
Phuket is a famous beach destination known throughout the world. It has white sandy beaches and beautiful clear sea surrounding it. It is also the largest island in Thailand along with 32 other islands in the province. Tourists from all over the world flock to Phuket for its amazing beaches and great holiday experience. One of the main contributors to the economy of Phuket is tourism which attracted over millions of tourists every year.
Amidst of the mass tourism in Phuket, a village in the northeastern side of the island is untainted by mass tourism. The pace of life at the village is much slower and more peaceful. As we cycle around the rural areas in Phuket, we learn the way of life for locals who lived here for generations. The surroundings of the village is also well preserved and is taken care by the local villagers. There are several plantations in Phuket that can be visited. Besides that, there is also rubber tree plantations which can be visited. The technique of rubber tree tapping and hand rolling into sheets are still used commonly here. Other than that, we can also see fruit plantations on our way by bike. We traverse through villages and look at how the local villagers go about their daily lives. We will take a break in the fisherman’s restaurant and then prepare to kayak across lush mangroves on the island. If we are lucky, we will have the opportunity to see red tiny crabs crawling out on the roots. For the last part of the tour, we will do some trekking to the gibbon rehabilitation centre and then hike up to a waterfall.
In this cycling tour, we will ride on paved country roads and sometimes dirt tracks as we ride past farms and plantations. Some of the section of cycling will be on the main road too. The tour is an 18 kilometres ride with some undulations and small hills. It will be a fun ride around the countryside of Phuket.
