Enjoy a thrilling 100km cycling adventure around northern Phuket accompanied by spectacular views along the ride!
The largest island in Thailand, Phuket is a famous tourist destination which attracts tourist from all over the world. It has numerous beautiful beaches such as the Patong Beach, Kamala Beach, Karon Beach and many more. During the peak tourist season, these beaches are often filled with tourists and the island will become very busy. However, these could not take away the island’s scenic beaches and blue sea. This cycling tour brings you to the northern part of Phuket and covers a distance of approximately 100 kilometres. You will get to see picturesque views along the ride which makes the adventure worthwhile.
At our starting point of this tour in Phuket, we will prepare ourselves for the cycle. We will cycle west from our starting point and then ride the Laguna region later. The Laguna region was once filled with active tin mines, today it has transformed into beautiful 5-star resorts. We will ride along the beautiful Phuket coastline flanked by coconut palms and enjoy the view of scenic beaches on the way. The sea breeze will make your ride to become more relaxing. There are some hills here with some short but steep sections. Due to the steepness, descent should be done cautiously. As we continue to ride, we will reach the national park and take in some fresh air from the lush forests. We ride slowly on curvy roads near the national park.
We will continue to ride until we reach the Sarasin Bridge that connects the island to the mainland of Thailand. It is the first bridge built that linked the island to the mainland of Thailand. The bridge is now replaced by another larger bridge because of Phuket’s increasing tourism development and road traffic. Now, the Sarasin bridge is a tourist attraction or a pedestrian bridge. People can enjoy an amazing view of the sunset from the bridge. After we take some photographs of the great scenery on the bridge, we turn and ride back into the island cycling towards the east.
As we continue on our journey, we will ride on quiet country roads past forests and rubber tree plantations. Southern Thailand is a big producer of rubber and we can see why it is as we cycle through kilometres of rubber trees. During the last part of the ride, we will cycle leisurely back to our starting point. There are a few small hills in the beginning of our ride and a short challenging one towards the end. As this is a challenging ride, the fitter you are, the more you will be able to enjoy. There will also be breaks in between to rest and have some refreshments.
This is a 100 kilometres challenge for experienced cyclists on a road bike. We will be riding on smooth tarmac roads and also a little of main roads with a wide shoulder. Our expert guide knows the route very well and will be with the tour the whole time. You can concentrate on your ride and enjoy the views along the way.
