Visit some of Indonesia’s historical landmarks like Goa Gajah, Tampak Siring and experience traditional culture at Penglipuran village.
Experience Bali’s history and culture as you venture to some of its amazing sites, with your first stop being Goa Gajah. Goa Gajah, meaning ‘Elephant Cave,’ is located on the western edge of Bedulu village and is an archaeological site with immense historical value. Dating back to the 11th century this cave was built as a place for meditation with a large meeting hall and various large old stone carvings. You’ll get to explore the cave which is shallow and contains three stone idols, each wrapped in a different coloured cloth. You can even see several indentations show where meditating priests once sat.
Make a stop at Tampak Siring, a holy temple located in a valley between two hills and features huge springs that considered sacred by the locals. Locals will purify their soul and minds from bad influences with this holy waters from the traditional showers sourced from the springs. You’ll get to tour this temple and maybe even see some people washing themselves with the holy water that is even believed to eliminate the sick of all diseases! Continue on to Penglipuran Village to learn more about their traditional culture. Most of the residents have embraced modernity but the individual compounds have been kept to maintain its traditional look for the tourists. Get a tour of this amazing compound from the residents before ending the tour.
