Get a taste of the Pearl of Orient in this 3D2N tour that takes you to experience Penang’s cultural heritage at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Georgetown and stop by the food heavens of Pulau Tikus, Sg Pinang and Air Itam.
Day 1: Georgetown / Pulau Tikus / Batu Ferringhi
Your tour will kick off right after the sunrise, in the heart of Georgetown with the guidance of an English speaking local cycling guide. Famous for its historical buildings, you will be cycling across the UNESCO World Heritage site to discover some of the best heritage buildings and temples. You will be visiting a few popular tourist attractions here including the Khoo Kongsi temple, Fort Cornwallis and the Burmese Buddha Temple. These buildings are famous for its reputation for having to be established for more than a century.
Being an island by itself, your cycling route will an interesting one as you will be cycling along Gurney Drive and all the way up to Batu Ferringhi. Batu Ferringhi is the prime beach destination in Penang for both locals and tourist. You will be cycling on a seaside strip of the Gurney Drive, passing by various luxurious hotels and malls as you make your way up to the northern coast of Penang island. Your first night of the tour will be at Batu Ferringhi after getting a taste of the local Penang food at Pulau Tikus.
Day 2: Teluk Bahang / Balik Pulau
You will make your way to Teluk Bahang, a quieter strip of a small town situated in between Batu Ferringhi and Pantai Acheh. In this unique place, you will visit the traditional fishing village, a Batik factory, Penang National Park and a waterfall nearby. The Penang Batik Factory is one of the pioneers of batik manufacturing on the island, where you can get the finest batik here. As you cycle through the lavish greenery of a tropical forest, you will pass by the butterfly farm and the biggest man-made dam in Penang, known as the Teluk Bahang Dam.
Famous for its fruit farms and orchard here in Balik Pulau, you will be stopping by the fruit stall that is famous for its local durians. The agriculture town produces the majority of the state’s popular products such as nutmeg, durian and spices. The town’s growing tourism sector relies heavily on the durian produce because every year between May to August, durian lovers will flock to this small town for its variety and quality of the durians harvested. Your dinner and the stay for the night will be in this town.
Day 3: Bayan Lepas / Air Itam
Set off from the small agricultural town to cycle along the only international airport of the northern region, the Penang International Airport at Bayan Lepas. Established as an agricultural village in the 19th century, the town is now the major industrial centre in Penang. Other than being home to big electronic factory plants, the only snake temple is also located here where you will pay a visit to the poisonous but harmless snakes of the temple. Put off your fear of snakes and appreciate the one of its kind cultures.
The second stop of the day will be at the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. Situated at the foot of the Air Itam mountain, the temple becomes the focal point of festive seasons for the Chinese community. You will be having lunch at Air Itam, where it is famous for it Penang Laksa, Duck Rice and Ice Kacang. Continue your riding journey towards the entrance of Penang Hill and pass by the State Mosque. Your fruitful journey across Penang island is expected to end at 6 pm when you reach your starting point of the tour.
