Tour Description:

Day 1 - Island Hopping Tour

The journey begins with a friendly meet and greet with our representative at the jetty. We will then get on board the boat and cruise off towards our hotel. Enjoy the stunning scenery as the breeze catches the wind in your hair. In the evening, we will commence our adventure with the Pangkor Island Hopping Tour.

Pangkor Island originally got its name from the Thai ‘Pang Ko’ which translates to the beautiful island. Pangkor Island is the main island in a group of smaller islands; Pangkor Laut, Pulau Giam and Pulau Mentagor. Back in the day, Pangkor Island was a known centre for piracy where trading was controlled in the Straits of Malacca. The biggest contribution to the island’s economy was its fishing industry and up till today Pangkor’s fishing industry still thrives.

Explore the island’s natural treasures as you feed the diverse marine life and even go snorkelling. Take a dive at Giam Island and experience the crystal clear waters and be mesmerised by the exotic corals that adorn the underwater world. If you’re up for it, there are even water sports and activities around the beaches like the banana boat or jet skis. Soak in the warm rays of the sun as you enjoy your time here with the sand beneath your feet.

After an exciting day, we will head to a local restaurant to replenish our energy before heading back to the hotel to rest for the day.

Day 2 - Fu Ling Kong Temple / Hai Seng Hin Satay Fish Factory / Pangkor Gallery / Boat Factory / Dutch Fort / Batu Bersurat

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel to kick start your day with a visit to Fu Ling Kong Temple and the Mini Great Wall of China. This Taoist temple is built at the foot of Pangkor Hill attracts many tourists not just to pray in this temple but also for its magnificent picturesque landscape. The well-maintained roof of the temple also features figurines of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. Towards the back of the temple, you can admire the Mini Great Wall of China as you stroll along the paved walkways.

Our next stop, the Hai Seng Hin Satay Fish Factory is famous for their fish satay and a great place to shop for fish snacks like prawn and fish crackers or dried cuttlefish. We will also visit the Pangkor Gallery, previously a school is now converted into a modest gallery displaying artefacts and historical items that were previously from the National Museum.

Our adventure continues at the Boat Factory where boatbuilding was at its peak in the 1970s and 1980s due to the thriving fishing industry. Witness the process of building a standard-sized fishing boat. Derived from Cantonese traditions, a red cloth is tied on some boats as a symbol of prosperity. To mark its place of manufacture, cabins were painted yellow. Admire the skills of the workers as they carve intricate designs onto the boat by hand.

Next on our adventure is the Dutch Fort, built by the Dutch in the 1670s. The fort acted as a storage and protection facility for tin supplies and was important for trading. It was even once destroyed by Malays, miserable from the Dutch’s ways of monopolising the mining industry but was then rebuilt by the Dutch soon after.

Just opposite from the Dutch Fort is the famous inscribed stone known as Batu Bersurat or Historical Rock. The surface of this large granite boulder facing the sea had the carvings ‘I F CRALO 1743’ as well as ‘VOC’. ‘VOC’ is said to refer to the Dutch East India Company. Beside this, is the carvings of a tiger and a child. Several theories were drawn from the engraving but the most popular one is that of the kidnapping and murder of a Dutch dignitary’s son by the Malays and Bugis in 1743 as revenge for the ill treatment of the Dutch to the locals. To conclude the search for the boy, the locals curate a story of the boy being snatched by a tiger.

To appease your hunger, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After the eventful day, your adventure ends here and you will be transferred back to Pangkor Jetty.
