Tour Description:

Explore Laos like never before by challenging yourself to a mountain biking expedition to see the beautiful sights of Laos. At the early hours of the morning, you will head to the bicycle shop where you will be properly fitted on a quality mountain bicycle. Soar through the trail on your bicycle where you will watch the tall skyscrapers and buildings slowly diminishing as you leave the ancient city of Luang Prabang. Head to the Mekong river, where you will experience mixed roads along the way, from dirt roads to the paved roads and the path will be dotted with local villages. The Mekong river is ranked as the 12th longest river in the world, which crossover to other countries, which includes China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and the total distance of the Mekong river is well over 4000 kilometres long.

Visit the local villages called the Ban Xieng Lek that is known for their mulberry paper making and weaving, whereby the knowledge has been passed down from generations. Meet the locals at the Ban Xang Hai village that are popular for producing the Lao Lao rice whiskey and you may even get a chance to learn the whiskey-making process. As you cycle through the trek, you will have a chance to observe the villagers that reside in the simple village, who are hard at work in the fields. You will feel like you are away from modern civilization as you ride past the vast expanse of paddy fields and hear the laughter from children playing with one another under the completely unobstructed clear blue sky.

Your next stop would be at the Pak Ou, which is the perfect spot to capture the confluence between the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers. Behold the stunning sights of the limestone cliffs that tower over the land and it is located right across the river, which acts as the best backdrop for plenty of your pictures! You will be provided with a delectable lunch, where you will indulge in the amazing local food and savour the taste of local flavours at a selected restaurant. After lunch, you will board a private boat to cross the Mekong river to the religious site called the Pak Ou caves that is filled with well over 4000 Buddha icons that are scattered all around the cave. The Buddha images are in varying positions and sizes, which attracts believers from all over to visit the cave for their rituals.

The entire journey would require at least half-day to complete, where you will ride along a looping circuit that is at least 25 kilometres of medium biking along the dirt roads and you will encounter some bumps along the way in a form of hills and stream crossings. The ambience during your mountain biking expedition will be serene and tranquil through beautiful Mekong landscapes and teak plantation as you travel through a path that is unfamiliar to other tourists.
