Enjoy a scenic countryside train ride as you head to Padas river and build up your adrenaline on the Class 3 to 4 rapids as you whitewater raft!
Padas river spans a length of 200 kilometres and has about 7 rapids between Class 3 and 4. Its rapids present quite a challenge, and if you’re up for it then go for it! To get there, meet at Beaufort Railway Station at 7:00am. From there, you will hop onto a local train that will travel through the countryside to bring you to Pangi Base Camp. The journey should take a little over 2 hours, so sit back and enjoy the ride while prepping yourself for the whitewater rafting activity.
On the way to Pangi, a stop will be made at Rayoh Railway Station where you will drop off your luggage and have a change of clothes. Once you arrive at Pangi, you will receive a safety briefing from a qualified river guide who will take you through the techniques and safety procedures to properly prepare you. After strapping yourself into your whitewater rafting gear, you board your raft and start off slow.
Raft down 9 kilometres of Padas River and go head to head with its rough rapids that definitely require some determination to challenge! Its seven wild rapids have interesting and funny names like the Merry-Go-Round Rapid, Scooby Doo Rapid, Break Point Rapid, Cobra Rapid, Lambada Rapid, Curve Rapid and Head Hunter Rapid. Despite their funny names, some say that when you actually navigate these rapids, you’ll have a clue as to why they were given the names they have.
Definitely prepare to be thrown and battered around a little on your whitewater rafting adventure as these rapids are no joke. Those who come here for the challenge will get the challenge they’re looking for, and maybe even more. It may be tough and rough, but conquering these rapids at the end of your journey will have you feeling like you’re at the top of the world, invincible. After having your fun, cool down and paddle to the end point where you will get out of your raft and dry yourself down.
The approximately 2-hour rafting adventure will have your stomach gnawing on your insides in hunger for sure, as much of your energy will be spent out on the rapids. Settle down for a filling lunch and a short rest before boarding the train to make your return to Beaufort Train Station. You should arrive at the station by 4:00pm.
