Tour Description:

Found in the rainforest of Malaysian Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak), Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan) and North Sumatra, the Orang Utan is one of the world’s largest tree-dwelling primates. These elusive primates are considered an endangered species and are protected by international law. Deforestation, human encroachment on their habitat, indiscriminate hunting, and the live animal trade are all factors that have precipitated a decline in their numbers, leaving only an estimated 20-27,000 Orang Utans left in the wild. It is a good thing that the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, established in 1975, has taken on the role of protector; purposed to care and rehabilitate rescued wild Orang Utans and other wild animals.

Embark on a journey on the wild side as we visit the Semenggoh Orang Utan Centre to observe these incredible creatures; how they interact with us, exhibiting friendliness, care, and love, very much like us. Aside from watching them delightfully tucking into their daily meals during feeding hours, you can take a stroll and try to spot colourful birds such as the Scarlet-rumped Trogon, Blue-winged Leafbird and more at the green sanctuary! Then, we will proceed to the largest captive crocodile breeding farm in Malaysia. Set amidst the picturesque backdrop of tall tropical trees, lush vegetation, and fruit trees, this farm provides sanctuary for over a thousand crocodiles bred in captivity, saving the species from extinction. Apart from the crocodiles, there are also numerous rare species of birds and animals around the compound, ranging from monkeys, leopard-cats, sun bears to even fruit bats, peacocks and hornbills. There is also the Arapaima, one of the largest freshwater fish on the globe!
